Hi,  My name is Marion (nee McDonell) and I am related to the clan in New Zealand and also in other parts of Australia.  My grandfather, Duncan and wife Mary (Duncan, son of Donald and grandson of Duncan and great grandson of Donald) came to Australia and settled in Queensland.  We are definitely of the same clan and I would love to be in contact with you.

Inverness / McDonell Family History

My name is Marion & I live in Qld Aust and I will be visiting Scotland in May this year. Seeking gravesites of ancestors - Duncan McDonell (ggggrandfather - born abt 1786-Borlum) m Ann Gillies : Donald McDonell (gg grandfather - born abt 1800- Borlum,died abt 1886 Inverness) m Mary McDonald (daughter of Donald McDonald and Mary McDonald b abt 1804 Auchterawe, died 1883 Markethill). G grandfather Duncan b abt 1843 Bunoich, died Qld 1923)married Mary Josephine Scully in England and came to Aust with 2 children on the Camorta.
I am hoping someone will be able to advise sites of graveyards, churches, etc for my ancestors.

Am not sure about Angus but am seeking info in regard to Duncan McDonell born abt 1844 Bunoich, Invernesshire, mother -  Mary (?) when (?) born abt 1807. - living civil parish Abertarff, County Inverness, Address Fort Augustus in 1861 census - father Donald McDonell born abt 1802.  Duncan is my g.g.grandfather.  This is all info I have.  Are we connected in any way? HI - sent another email earlier today.  We are definitely related - I am the great granddaughter of Martin Purcel(l) and Catherine Purcel(l).  Maybe they were cousins?  Have very little info on the Purcel(l) Lewis side of the family - having great difficulty.
I live in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia and I would love to be in contact with you.  I have the same info as you have as appearing on marriage certificate.  Maybe we will be able to help each other as no doubt, we are definitely related.  My maiden name was McDonell - my grandmother's maiden name was Lewis and her parents were Martin and Catherine Purcel(l).
Oh what a lucky day this is for both of us.  Please contact me and we will then be able to exchange phone numbers and chat indefinitely about our ancestors and beautiful Ireland.
