Sorry - was so excited I didnt read your post properly - I see he is listed as Marchall - that will teach me not to try all variations of a name!

Still I dont think I would ever have found him in 1841.

Thank you very much!

I have been looking for months and they havent appeared anywhere in my searches - I wonder why that was?

Anyway thank you very much - it certainly gives me something more to work on.  He is on his son's and daughter's marriage certificates as a cattle dealer so it must be him - means my theory about him being in Tippermallo in 1841 is probably wrong.

Out of curiosity where did you find them?

Hi

I am trying to trace a David Marshall and have drawn a complete blank.

He married Elizabeth Herdman in Methven on 19th February 1833 and they went onto have 6 children that I know of - David (b.6.4.1833 - Findo Gask); Robert (b. 2.11.1834 - Methven); Janet (b29.1.1837 - Methven); Matthew Herdman Marshall (b.15.9.1839 - Methven); Johanna (b.24.10.1841 - Methven) and George (b22.8.1844 - Methven).

I can find Elizabeth and the family in Bragrum, Methven in 1841 but not David Snr - although there is one aged 30 in a sleeping house employed as a labourer at Mains of Tippermallor and I am assuming it could be him.

They all disappear totally in 1851 except David Jnr and Robert who turn up in Findo Gask on their Uncle William Herdman's farm.

Elizabeth then moves around a lot - 1861 Housekeeper for her brother in Findo Gask, 1871 Aberlemno with son Robert, 1881 with son Matthew in Kirriemuir and then 1891 with daughter Janet (Robertson) in Scone.  Elizabeth dies 20 May 1891 in Perth Road, Scone.

I cannot find David on any of the census' or his birth or death certificate - I wonder if anyone has any ideas to help me where to go next.  Do you think he died in Methven pre 1851/1861 as Elizabeth is then working for her brother?

Any help gratefully received.

Thanx ???

Ireland / McGuires - Ireland to Scotland
« on: Monday 23 April 07 14:39 BST (UK)  »
Am trying to trace some McGuires from Ireland.  James and Roseanne McGuire nee Bannon (?) along with their son Patrick turn up in Scotland on the 1861 census in Whitburn, West Lothian.

Patrick is aged 17 at the time.  He then goes on to marry Mary Gebbie and the whole family move to Carnwath in Lanark.

I am trying to find where in Ireland they came from.  The scotland census' just say Ireland and the death certificates do not help.

Any help or information as to how I can find them greatly appreciated.

I am trying to trace the ancestors of David and Elizabeth Marshall who were married in 1824 and Perth and according to the census lived there for the remainder of their lives. David was a master tailor and they resided at 126 High Street.
I have hit a blank wall in finding out more about their parents or siblings.  David is recorded as being born circa 1799 in the east indies (possibly Madras) and Elizabeth circa 1801 in Guernsey.  Her father is on the marriage record as John Marshall shoe maker.

Any one with any idea how I find out more about these two and any information greatly appreciated.

I am trying to trace Elizabeth Marshall who is noted on the 1841 and 1851 census' from Perth as having been born circa 1800 in Guernsey.  Her fathers name was John Marshall and she married David Marshall in Perth in 1824.

Any assistance or information as to how I trace the birth would be greatly appreciated

I wonder if anyone can help

Am tracing my husbands Marshall ancestors and have managed to get back to a David and Elizabeth Marshall  who were married in Perth in 1824.

Elizabeth Marshall appears to have been Elizabeth Marshall before her marriage - father John Marshall and she is listed in the census thereafter as being born in Guernsey in approx 1801.

We would like to trace her birth and find out what she was doing in Guernsey to then end up in Perth.

A bit of a brick wall for us and any help appreciated.
