I am quite interested in your Cowden connection in Paisley.
I have William Cowden and Catherine Jack having 4 children born in Paisley in the late 1700's and one in Lochwinnoch in the 1770s.
They were my 4 x great grandparents , my 3 x great grandmother Margaret Cowden died in Drygate Glasgow in 1864. Her sister Mary Cowden died in Stock Street , Paisley in 1858 .
I would be extremely interested if you think we have a connection.

I've just noticed this.

William Cowden & Catherine Jack are my 5x Great Grandparents. They had a daughter Margaret Cowden who married a Robert Fraser

The daughters name was Sarah McGrath / McGraw. She married William Montgomery (I dont know where) but she died in 1972 in Dundee. She is listed on one of the census as being born in Ireland

Thanks for taking the time to respond.

You are correct about the spelling and the variants as searching for McGrath, McGra or even McGraw could take an age.

Hi

I'm trying to find a marriage (probably in Ireland) for Edward McGrath & Rose Ann McGurk. Both were born at the turn on the 1800s and had a daughter in the 1830s so i'm guessing its around 1820-1835ish.

Any help would be appreciated

Just a note of caution, the OP mentioned "Kilbarchan (Linwood)".

Originally Linwood was part of Kilbarchan Parish even though they are 3 miles apart so the Beatties of Kilbarchan (Linwood) may not be necessarily to the Beatties from Kilbarchan.
