Well at least all today’s feedback has helped to get that far. As I said in the pm, the birthdate was the sticking point and getting the certificates will give you the evidence you need to be sure of your beliefs and that extra time means you don’t go too far down the wrong path. Sheridan is such a common name in the area, and none of these names appear as yet in this tree so probably no links unfortunately!

Hi msheridanfall,

Welcome! You've brought me back to this after a long absence!

I think you have the right family as Francis is indeed in my tree. I have Francis married to Jane (nee Curry) in 1888, with 10 children, one of them being your Francis in 1895/6. I have no further info on that part of the family going forward in time, so was delighted to see that this is your grandfather.

Francis senior's parents were indeed John Sheridan and Anne Winters as you can find in this thread. I don't go a lot further back but would love to share with you. If you could do a couple more posts, you'll then be able to private message me through this site!

Concerned about the date of John's birth as 1837. 1901 census - gave his age as 75 and born in county Louth whereas Mary and Annie are specifically born in Meath. Was he a different John Sheridan born in 1826 in Monasterboice?

Hi DeeSigelkow,

We have a possible baptism for John (husband of Anne Winters) St Mary's Drogheda 5 Dec 1837, son of Pat Sheridan and Mary Lynch?

Parents of Anne Winters - Peter Winters and Anne Mullen of Monasterboice

We had another thread which began to trace the family backwards before I ran out of time - will need to search and work out how to link!

Sueclog here - 10 years after we started this thread. My husband's 2x great-grandparents are John Sheridan and Anne Winters. He's the great grandson of their son, John. We have more information now that we can give you. We're at work tomorrow but will post again on Thursday.
