Thank you Annes. I appreciate you taking the time to check this for me. I will look elsewhere for her parents now.

Apologies for the late acknowledgment as I have been away on holidays and have only just returned home.

Thanks again.

Suffolk Lookup Requests / Re: PINKNEY; Susan/Susannah baptism Ilketshall about 1759

Thanks Colin. I suspect these records that only show the year of Susan's date of birth have estimated it from her death record rather than find her baptism record. [ie what I have done myself]

The search continues.... :)

Thank you for the prompt reply Colin. I will follow up with the private Ancestry tree but I had no idea you could view what was in a private tree.

Suffolk Lookup Requests / PINKNEY; Susan/Susannah baptism Ilketshall about 1759
« on: Monday 10 October 22 10:08 BST (UK)  »
I'm looking for the baptism and parents of Susan/Susannah PINKNEY/PINKNY born about 1759 probably in Ilketshall. I suspect her parents are John Pinkney and Elizabeth Watson who were baptising children in this area at that time.

Family trees on Ancestry include several children but there is a gap where Susannah would fit. To my knowledge the Ilketshall baptisms are not available online and I have exhausted all avenues available to me here in Australia.

If anyone has time to look for this baptisms I would be very grateful. Thank you.

Suffolk Lookup Requests / Re: Betts in Metfield or Mendham baptism 1785/6

Thanks Lizzie.

Ive been checking through my numerous notes on Betts in Suffolk and Norfolk but haven't anything further to add at this time unfortunately.   If I should find anything I will let you know. Before I started researching my mothers side, I never realised how common the Betts name was!

Best of luck with your research.

Hi Lizzie,

I had a possible marriage tagged for Hannah [b 1787] daughter of Judith Butcher, late Godbold/t. The marriage was Hannah Godbold who married Thomas Lanham in 1803 at Campsea Ash, Suffolk. I had a DNA match to a descendant of this couple as well. I haven't done any further follow up but I am happy to take a further look at other possible shared matches in case I find anything more.

Can you give me any more information on your Hannah?

My interesting in Matilda [another DNA match] stems from my brickwall Ann Betts who was probably born about 1763 and who married John Edwards Buck in 1788 in Walpole Suffolk. Ann died in 1792 and her husband went on to marry twice more. What is interesting is that her son William would later adopt her surname of Betts [rather than his birth surname Buck]  It is the Betts surname that carried down to my mother.

So I have been looking at all of my DNA matches to Betts in the hope of finding Ann's origins. As you have probably found yourself, there are a lot of Betts families in Suffolk and surrounding areas. Not an easy task but every little clue may hold the possible solution.

Australia / Hannah Levy Re: Twomey Dwyer Family Tree
« on: Friday 06 September 19 05:40 BST (UK)  »
I would like to suggest that your Hannah Levy is one and the same as my missing Hannah Woodcroft born born 2nd October, 1856 Cooma. Hannah had a child, Liley [sic] Eliza Stirling Woodcroft in 1874 Cooma. Hannah Woodcroft, spinster, is recorded on the names of lapsed conditional purchasers of land in Cooma in February 1878 - possibly portion 23 Rosebrook Run. This is the last recorded sighting I have of Hannah. She disappears from the records.

However, I have found four DNA matches to family lines from Hannah Levy and partner Thomas Patrick Dwyer. My Hannah’s parents were Joseph Woodcroft and Susan Thompson. You can view my webpage for them here: http://lintywhite.com/woodcroft3.html  By all accounts, Joseph Woodcroft was a volatile person and may have turned his back on his Hannah after she had a baby out of wedlock.  Of interest is the fact that Joseph had a brother named Levi Woodcroft.

The Woodcroft family is my husbands family but I have been researching them for over 20 years now. I would value your thoughts on the above. Jennifer

Thanks McKha489. Not near one of these but hopefully something might come up in the future.

Thanks Trish 1120. That is the marriage of his parents, but the baptism is his son, also named John Edwards Buck [junior], mother being JEB's second wife. JEB senior was married 3 times.  His first wife also appears to have had a bay named JEB but mother and baby died within a few days.

It's the last wife, who shares his surname that I am trying to identify.  She may be a niece or possibly a second cousin. There were a few Susan Buckes.

Thanks everyone who has helped. I appreciate your time and effort to reply. If anyone is interested in reading more about John Edwards Buck/e I have a family history website and you can read about him here: http://lintywhite.com/betts4.html
