You are right Mabel he isn't my Thomas after all.  My Thomas was born in Dunham and his father was William Yarwood Wheelright.  I thought it was him on the farm in 1851, but now not sure, as he was still working for William (his Dad) with his brothers James and George until 1854.  So don't know why he wasn't living at home on the 1851 census.  Oh well I shall keep looking, but will probably pass it on to my nephew who has got the bit between his teeth now, after not being remotely interested before LOL.
Thank you again

I really don't know Mabel. But this looks quite promising.  I should have looked under Garwood because I found another Yarwood under that name years ago.  I shall look into it.
Thank you so much for taking the time to find it for me.  I shall let you know if I get success with this one.
Many thanks again

You are going to think I am stupid.  The entry in Wm's order book is 'Samuel Yarwood' of Ardwick, not Thomas!! You'll have to forgive me, I'm 77 and on steriods LOL.  So that has no bearing on the Thomas I am looking for.  Thomas' pencil entry says Thomas Yarwood Dunham Woodhouses near Altrincham. That is the correct Thomas, son of William and Elizabeth. He is in the Order book until it ends in 1854, doing work mostly with his brother George.  So where was he after 1854? Time for a lie down with a wet flannel on my forehead!! Sorry to send you on wild goose chases. I'll soon be able to ask him myself when I kick the bucket...where the h.ll were you after 1854 ? LOL
Thank you so much

I don't know.  There were lots of William Yarwoods as well. One lived in Hale, a farmer with a son Thomas, and another Bowden with a son Thomas.
I am wondering if the inscription in the account book is a thomas Yarwood they did work for.
William (my grt grt grandfather) was a master wheelwright and they had a Smithy with a sawpit outside.  The did work for people far and wide, so if this Thomas of Ardwick was a relative they could well have done work for him.  My Thomas (William's son) has written his name in pencil in the account book in 1854 so he was alive then. The book only goes up to 1854 sadly (although its a fabulous mind of information).  I could buy a marriage and death cert for all the Thomas Yarwoods to check the Father, but that would cost a fortune.  There's always one isn't there LOL.

You're right heywood, my eyesight isn't what it was, I'm looking at his brother Samuel on the 1851 doh!  Sorry for that.  But I can't find him after that.  I have followed the rest of the family through to death, but this one has got away!!

SS heywood is correct, he was living at the farm in 1851, but also working for his father William in the sawpit and mending tools for farms etc. in 25th September 1854. There are so many Thomas Yarwoods its difficult to know which is the correct one. I don't know if he married, or died.  I've only come back to this because my nephew has now taken up the baton!!!

Hi I'm trying to find Thomas Yarwood on the 1861 census for Ardwick Manchester. He was living at 42 Bunyan Street, off Hyde Road, Ardwick.
I'd be really grateful if anyone can find him on the 1861 or possibly 1871.  I've been trying to trace him for over 20 years now.  in 1851 he was living with his parents William and Sarah Yarwood at Woodhouses Dunham Massey Nr. Altrinchm (if this is the same Thomas at Ardwick) I've just found him in his father's 1850 account book with the Ardwick address. Everything is crossed.
Many thanks
