Thank you both !
I looked up that date again and it looks like the marriage of James and Nancy was 1878.
The fancy script fooled ... the 7 look a 4 ... my mistake ... now it makes more sense.
Thanks,
Sharron

Canada / Davison Family, Huron Cty., Ontario
« on: Sunday 12 October 08 18:20 BST (UK)  »
Hello,
I am hoping someone can help me find a member of the Davison family of Stanley, Ont. area, circa 1800's.

James Davison and Jane Rowat had a son;

James Davison, b.abt.1816, Stanley, Ont. who married ..
Nancy Greer, (b.abt.1820, Twp. of Howick) Oct.23,1848, by Rev. Thomas G. Thomson, the Methodist Church,  Brucefield, Ont.
I believe they farmed in Twp. of Howick.

My main thrust in this query is to determine if anyone knows where Nancy was born, her nationality and any information about her parents, John Greer and Laura Fields.

James Davison/Jane Rowat and John Greer/Laura Fields are my gr.gr.gr.gr.grandparents.

I realize this is a stretch, trying to go back so far, but hopefully someone out there is looking too.
warm regards and thanks in advance,
Sharron

Kirkcudbrightshire / Re: 1841 CURRIE, a lost family!
« on: Tuesday 07 October 08 00:57 BST (UK)  »
I am pleased to offer an update to the Currie family search.
As we were aware, John and Margaret's son George stayed in Scotland when Margaret and her 6 youngest children emigrated to Canada but nothing much was known after that.
I was pleasantly surprised to get an email from a young woman who is directly related to George, thus, we share common 3rd & 4th grandparents Margaret and John Currie.
Very exciting news, but alas, she has very little knowledge of that side of her family and she now lives in Australia.
Can anyone help us out with any information regarding; George Currie, b. 1817, near Parton (info thanks to johking)
Warm regards
Sharron

I'm sorry, I'm not very good at this ... the photo is only abt. 5"x7", didn't think it would show so large.
If you or Chamney have similar photos or could find out who Richard's parents/grandparents were, or siblings, I would be very excited and grateful.
Sharron (probably your cousin somewhere down the line)

This is exciting ... and I'm very pleased to meet you.
I hope you can provide a little information about Richard Chamney and the family he left behind in Ireland.
Would you happen to know where the Chamney's originated ?
I can help on this end somewhat in informing you of what I know after Richard came to Canada. I am directly related to him through his daughter Jane, who married Henry Deacon, whose family was also from Ireland.
