Hello James - on looking more closely at this photo I see there is a black plume on the hat. Pity I cannot make out the collar badges. He must be Scottish Horse which was preceded by the Lovat Scouts.  I cannot find reference that he and two others formed the Inverness Light Horse Brigade. Not as yet anyhow.

Thank you both.  I am told he was in the Scouts, but I don't have a date.  Their uniform changed around 1903. I have seen the images on ebay, but cannot see the 3 cuff buttons. With regard to the Scottish Horse - yes I saw that reference (Inverness-shire Royal Horse Artillery). I cannot find reference to Inverness Light Horse though.
I may have to pop down to Fort George - they may have answers.  Thanks again.

hi, wondering if anyone can identify the army officer's uniform please. He was in the Lovat Scouts and I think possibly there was initially 3 buttons on the cuff. However, is the hat, that of a Lovat Scout around 1901.  He was also in the Light Horse (inverness) - volunteers I believe.  Were they part of the Scottish Horse or Lovat's?
Thanks

Hello, does anyone have any recollection of the United Free Church which stood in Lower Tullich, near to Delny, Ross-shire.  There was also a school here.  Perhaps it was demolished when the new road was put in?  Any ideas or photos please.  Thanks

Hi, searching for info on mainly a James Fraser who married a Janet Bain in 1820 at Gairloch,ROC.James, was the son of Willam Fraser and Catherine Mackenzie, born in 1790 and died in 1868 at Gairloch.  I am wondering if James was married previously to a Mary Mackenzie and she died between 1817 and 1820, 3 children to this marriage of Jean,Kenneth and Isobell.
James and Janet Bain had 3 children Mary;William and Margaret. William born 1827 married a Mary Mackenzie and had 7 children.  Thanks

Hi Margaret, sorry taken so long in replying.  I do not have a 'tree' of the Chisholms.  William Chisholm was the husband of my 1st cousin, once removed - Catherine Ann Mackenzie.  Married on 30 Aug 1921 in Glasgow. I told you he died young as Catherine remarried, no, this is incorrect. It was his daughter that remarried, sorry.  Catherine died on 27 Dec 1955,age 54yrs in Gairloch.  William died 1980 in Cambuslang, is that correct?  Didn't know he remarried, what was her d.o.b? Lizzie still lives in Gairloch. Ina and May her siblings as far as I know.  I would love to see a photo of himself and Catherine and their families.
They all lived in very close proximity to one another, the Mackenzies,Chisholms,Mcleans,Macraes, hence they married into each others families quite frequently.  Very confusing.
I found your John Chisholm, son of Alexander Chisholm and Mary McRae,Melvaig.  He married Margaret McKenzie,b. 1 June 1810. Margaret was his 2nd wife.  She was the daughter of Margaret and John Mackenzie.  Don't know who his first wife was, perhaps the death certificate says.
The parents of William were Hector and Mary McLachlan, is that correct?

Hi
I have a William Chisholm, born 1902 at 27 Melvaig.  He married Catherine Ann Mackenzie on 30 Aug 1921 in Glasgow.  Catherine lived at 28 Melvaig. He died fairly young as Catherine remarried.  His parents were Hector Chisholm, a steel worker and a Mary McLachlan.  She was Irish and William was called Paddy the piper. Sorry I don't know much more about him.  He must be related to you.  I am researching the Mackenzie side. He would have been the husband of my 1st cousin, once removed.
Hope this helps.
Cheers Anne
