Wiltshire / Re: Horningsham Trollop(e)s and author Anthony Trollope

Sorry, Jessica90, but my interest is in my relatives, the Fords of Chapmanslade.  I found Luke Ford and visited Horningsham.  I found a number of Trollope gravestones and wondered about an Anthony connection. Just curiosity, I'm afraid.

Hello, Janice.  I'd like to know all that you (and your Grandad) know about the Fords of Chapmanslade.  John Ford senior was my wife's great-grandad.    Can you send me your email address?  Brian Jones

Does anybody know anything about Rev Holmes and his family? He was born in Liverpool, England, in 1847 and died in Exeter, England, in 1919. He spent some time in Canada. His parents were John Holmes and Mary Ann Bayley.

I'm intrigued by his middle name, Forrester, and whether that means a connection with a Forrester family.

Hello, Chris.  Just tying up loose ends etc.  Market Drayton's Quarry House, a National Assistance Institution, succeeded the Union Workhouse in 1930 but was it a still a workhouse in all but name in 1943 when my great-grandfather died there? I've read that such Institutions were abolished eventually, certainly when the NHS was created.

Sorry, Arthur, I should have said.  The web site works fine.  I've been using the "contact us" form but it is rejected as spam every time.

Thanks for that.  I've modded my posting.

I did the gravestone date every time.  I guess the anti-spam mechanism is over-zealous.  Which is not good for business.

United States of America / Ethel Gertrude Edna Ford (née Bryant)

My ancestor Ethel died in Sonoma, California, in 1980.  It was a surprise to find that out.  What was she doing in Sonoma at 97?  The last I knew was that she was living in Wiltshire, England, in the 1950s with husband Percival John Ford.

Can anybody advise me on US databases I could search to find out when Ethel went to the US and where she lived?  I've tried Ancestry.

I can't communicate with this body to inform it of transcription errors.  My plain simple text emails keep bouncing.  Is it still in business?
