Europe / Re: Help please! German Ancestors

Hi Sue
Thanks for your reply.

Unfortunately we are unable to find anything further out as we are in Australia and not able to gain access to Naturalisation Archives and we have no relatives who are able to do so.  We traced the family as far as we could on censuses which only states Germany as birth place.

« on: Monday 09 March 09 03:46 GMT (UK)  »
My ancestors migrated from Germany, name of Rath.  At the time of migration which we work out to be between 1890 and 1894, the family consisted of Alfred (father) b.1855app. Emilie (mother)b.1859 app. Emma (dau)b.1888 app. Angelika (dau)b.1890 all born Germany then Blodwen(dau)b.1894app. born Wales, the Charles and Bessie (twins)b.1897app. Chester, Cheshire. Then Kaetchen Olga (dau)b.1899app. Manchester.  This is all I know in the UK is there anybody able to help me search for information in Germany, am banging my head against a brick wall.
Angelika was my g.grandmother any help or information or any Raths related that know anymore, please reply.
Thanks
Denise

In the childrens photo top left is my nanna Mary Ellen Slater holding my Uncle Arthur in the high chair next to her are two brothers don't know wich is wich bottom row left another brother then my Aunty Alice Then maybe another brother? on this one. Think the pic of kids app 1908 as uncle Arthur B. 1908 just before he retired injured.

I agree Alpinecottage have also already checked census records there was only 1 Twist in Wiltshire in 1841 that was a David Twist with no other family members. And as you say Swindon was the main workshops for Brunells Locomotivs and suplied Locos right up till recently to B/R. This is the only Edmund Twist Died during that decade

Yes Washy
As an engineer at that time there were major engineering projects going on all over the country and as was stated before the registration would have taken place where he died not where he was buried or lived.
