Sorry, but I don't know this person at all.  Do you know where she was born or her parents?

Regards
Carol

Jan, I haven't been on here for some considerable time, but have been playing around with my tree recently and came across your question.

I do have George Maurice Le Gallez b 1936 in my tree and have recently made contact with his son Christopher Le Gallez who has been working on his tree.  There was another brother Harold who I knew very well as I was growing up.  There were two girls Ada Anne and Phyliss May, but I don't know anything about them.

George Maurice's father was George Henry and he was my grandmother's nephew.  George Henry's father was Harold James Le Gallez - gran's brother.  He was a sailor in the Royal Navy.

This part of the family was descended from James George Le Gallez - his father was James Henry Le Gallez.

Hope this little bit of info helps you in your search.  If I can help any more, please let me know.
Regards, Carol

Many thanks for the advice - sadly I don't think I can go anywhere with this one.

I think she was a Catholic as the children were all brought up in that faith, but I have no other information.  I found on a UK census that she gave her place of birth as County Mayo, but other than that, I think this is a dead end for me.

Thanks for taking the time to reply, kind regards, Carol

Yes I paid in £ sterling.  I guess they would just do a conversion when you applied.

I know the spelllings are quite off in some cases as I come from Guernsey originally and know so many of the surnames, but if you go and look at the actual census page it's there.  Are you certain the name was Isabel?  I have found a Mabel and in the handwriting that could be mistaken for Isabel.  The plot thickens lol.  Good luck with it.

Kind regards, Carol.

Simone, I have been looking through Ancestry.co.uk and found that there are lots of spelling mistakes where the names are listed.  I found one of mine under one of them.  I have tried all the combinations of the names you have given for Isabel but no luck I'm afraid.  Should I come across anything I will of course post it for you.

Kind regards, Carol.

I haven't had any luck with the names for Isabel.  However, I have found a Joseph Le Patourel who was living in Guernsey in the 1901 Census.  The family are listed as John LP (head)(age 65)...dock worker, wife Elizabeth, (age 60)...charwoman, Selina Le Patourel (age 22)...charwoman and Leonora Le Patourel (age 20),...dressmaker.   Joseph LP is grandson (age 7) and Emily granddaughter (age 2 months).  The children are named as Le Patourel, and the daughters are both listed as single?  Don't know if this helps.  I might be barking up the wrong tree entirely of course.

Know what you mean about brick walls too.....I've come across a few since I started with this hobby!

I have checked through all the names I have connected to my tree and I'm sorry to say I have nobody by the name of Isabel Le Gallez.  Sorry I cannot help you on this occasion.

Kind regards, Carol.

Hello again!

I have been going through a tin of very old bits and pieces we have on the family and the paper I have says that Mungo Park and Elspeth had 13 children, one of whom was a Joseph, so it looks as if there may have been a couple more not actually registered at baptism?

Also one of the Mungo's we have, was married at Berwick Upon Tweed, so that part of the family may have been in that region and not Scotland itself.  I just wish they had been more imaginative with naming their children in those days as there appear to have been lots and lots of Mungos about!

Happy Hogmanay to all of you, and thanks again for all your help.

Thank you all once again for taking so much trouble on my behalf.

You are correct in that my Gabriel was married to Charlotte Louisa.  He was Gabriel William according to his daughter's marriage certificate.
