Hi Alexander,
Thank you for your kind offer.
I'd very grateful if you could tell me if any Watkinson family are listed in Nottingham town, please.
Many thanks.
Paulene.

World War Two / Help in dating a photo, please

A friend, from Belgium, has asked if someone might help in identifying the year this taken. It was taken sometime (we think), between 1944 and early 1946 in Belgium. I’ve added both the black and white version and the colourised one, as the colourised one may be deceptive. I know Belgium was officially liberated by early February 1945, but I know some soldiers stayed longer to clear mines, etc.
The outfit may be that of a British soldier (with winter jerkin), but may not be. If it is the person we think it is he may have come from the Beeston, Nottinghamshire area - this person was a friend of the family at that time. My father was in the BLA at that time and a photo of him in the RASC part of the BLA shows him wearing a similar jerkin.
As I know there are some very clever people in this group who know a lot about various types of vehicles; I’m hoping you might be able to help.
Many thanks in advance + best wishes to you all,

Hi Kathy,
Sorry for not replying sooner. That's a really generous offer!
However, I've already managed to track down the Grantham Journal articles on this sad case (with the help of the wonderful staff at the library). The only thing missing was where they were laid to rest; and thanks to help from dawnsh I managed to contact Dignity who were very helpful and tracked them down for me.
But, one again, thank you very much for your kind offer.
Good luck with your own research.
Take care,
Paulene.

Thank you so much, Dawn - you're a star!
I rang them and within 10 minutes they rang me back to confirm that both Geoff and his wife, Florence, are buried there. Both at rest, and together.

I'm helping a friend researching his ancestors, and we need help to locate where Geoffrey Ernest Gooch was buried in the Grantham area. He died on the 23 November, 1964; but the burial/cremation might have been delayed. I believe his wife, Florence Elizabeth Gooch may be buried in the New Somerby Cemetery (Grantham Cemetery) - she died in June, 1961.
As my friend doesn't live in Grantham any help given would be extremely appreciated. Thank you.

Hi everyone,
I agree with Suzard - I think it's Ollerton.
Although I couldn't find a Thomas Womble on the Notts Baptism CD there is a Thomas Woombell baptised at Wellow ( near Ollerton) on 25 May 1806 on familysearch. This could be him.
Hope so!
Paulene :)
