Aghadowey,
To quote my original post "I don't know if I'm posting this in the right place". If you felt I had posted this thread in the wrong place I would have been happy for you to redirect me, secondly if I wish to canvas further opinion from a wider audience surely I am entitled to do so.
I have already apologised for the inconvenience I may have caused you through my lack of experince.
Regards,
Brncam

Thanks rosie99,
I think you are probably right, hopefully this can open a few possibilities as I had come to a bit of a dead end. Thanks again for your input.

rosie99,
I had William in my head for a long time, but as I said my wife thought it more of an Archibald when we looked at it again.

Sorry Aghadowey,
I wanted to get a few opions and felt I wasn't getting many responses to my original post. As I had said in the original post I wasn't sure I had posted in the right place, I then came across this section. I don't know if posts can be moved?

Hello everyone and happy new year.
I don't know if I'm posting this in the right place but I'm hoping for some help in transcribing the name in the attached image. All educated guesses welcome. The only clue, it's a mans Christian name.

Regards,

Hello Aghadowey,
Sorry I forgot to mention it was a man's Christian name. I don't have many clues to give, I came across this name on a document relating to an ancestor but there was a bit of a debate over what it was. I don't want to say anything else at the moment as I don't want to influence how other people see it.
In the meantime, thanks for your response.
