Hi Jinky,

I'd say you've got an illigitimate birth certificate there. 

I had a similar case with my grandfather's birth certificate of Sept 1900.  There is no father's name on his certificate either and he was registered under his widowed mother's married surname.  He would never talk about his father.

On his marriage certificate he claimed to be the son of his mother's first husband.  In reality this man had died in 1898, two years before his birth.

His mother married his real father a few months later in Dec 1900. You might like to check for this scenario if you haven't already done so.
