I  can't see anything that early on the national archives website for Lovell's in Holborn, a will could have helped.  The trouble is John Lovell could have been born anywhere and we can only speculate as to his year of birth.  Sorry I cannot help you with this.

Thank you. I checked and found that John and Alice married at St Bartholemew the Less so maybe they moved.

I think I have to accept the premise that I have the wrong John Lovell, although the one that married Alice Southin is the right one. Now my 86 yard are beginning to show because now i don't know where to look next. My thanks to all of you for your help and guidance

regards

19 Jan 1667 St Bartholomew the Less - John Lovell married Alice Southin
When did this John die and does it give any indication of his age at death or have you just gone back 25 years to establish a birth date.
I don't know when he died, his birth is established and I have little more sense than just picking 25 as a means of establishing his birth

Apologies for absence from website. I am confident that robert lovell b.1670 married mary payne in 1693/94. Equally I know that their son Robert b.1715 married Martha Smilten in 1753. If I am correct Edward b. 1622 married margret eaton in 1640. their son john was b.1642 and married alice Southin in 1667. My weakness in Edwards birthplace being in Eastbourne and his father I have accepted at stretch his birth in Wrington, which as you say is in somerset. most of my info is from Family Search and some from Ancestry where I am concerned that there may be one too many edwards i.e did Edward b.1602 marry margret. i am open to suggestions.

Regards

My apologies,  Edward was born in 1602 probably in Wrington, Dorset His son was also Edward b 1622 and married Margret Eaton and their first born was John b. 1642. This is my direct line.
i have no reason to suspect that they lived anywhere but in East London i.e. Bethnal Green/Shoreditch.
