Armed Forces / army pay

Hi All

Just a general query, apologies for my ignorance but how did soldiers (during wars) get paid and how did their dependants access that money?

Thanks

Hi Carole
Thanks for the reply. I have Lizzie in 1911 living with an aunt and uncle at Park road Tanyfron
which ties in with family memory. But with all the Elizabeths flitting about, I was trying to pin down the actual parents. It makes sense that she was named after her mum. We know she had an older brother but we dont know his name either but by putting 2 and 2 together with my fingers crossed, I think I may have found the father and son living in Gwynfryn with the grandmother. Joseph Thos. Lloyd and Alun Howell Ll. (widower). You mentioned in your reply mmn howell which I dont understand but the howell name fits.

Denbighshire / Minera parish records
« on: Sunday 02 May 21 15:44 BST (UK)  »
Hi All

Does anyone have the parish records for St. Mary's church Minera 1903. I am looking for a baptism for an Elizabeth (Lizzie) Lloyd (could be October) 1903. It is rumoured that she was baptised over her mothers coffin who had died giving birth to her. So I am looking for a baptism and burial fairly close to each other. I don't know the names of the parents but they may have lived in Gwynfryn.

Thanks

Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / My true ancestry

Hi

Iv'e just had an ad pop up on my f/b page for "My True Ancestry" so I went to the site. It says I can upload my DNA results for free and my basic analysis is free. Does anyone know if this is worth doing and if the free thing is actually worth it. There's costs for more n depth stuff too.

Thanks

World War Two / Re: Fold3

Thank You Max. Glad I didn't get a subscription to Fold3 now as it doesn't seem to have the records I need when I thought it did. What is it with Anc... that you pay for full subscription then they find another way to squeeze money from you with these bolt ons.

World War Two / Fold3

Hi

By any chance does anyone have access to 'Fold3' or any Usa military records site?

I am interested in finding out where 4 Usa servicemen served in ww2.

They all went home but have now passed.

Ernest Camille Burnell b.1900 from Westville, Franklin County, New York State
Daniel Burnell b.1922, Edmund Burnell b. 1924 & Nolie A. Burnell b. 1925 all from same location.

I don't know how specific the records are but I am interested in finding out if any of them were stationed in or around North Wales during ww2. Even the branch of the military would help.

Thanks

Hi All

I'm on the cadge again...pretty please ::)

I'm after the baptism details of Alexander Dunn b.1809 in Llandyssil Montgomery.

I have a subscription to Ancestry but can't find it on there. Found it on Find my Past though, but don't have that subscription. I can read the record details but was wondering if the parents names etc were on there

Thanks
Elaine
