appreciate the advice. Shall check LDS for that microfilm.
So far all records for Birr appear to be post 1838 and my
GGG was born there in 1816.

I recently received advise from Irish Midlands ancestry that
church records for Birr begin in 1838.
My great great grandfather William Roe was born there
in 1816.
Any advice of helping me to trace his family would be
welcome.

Thank you so much for your trouble. This could well be my great great grandmother. All my info
indicates she was born in 1821. I don't have any record of a second name so can't confirm
unfotunately.   can you tell me what is the meaning  of   N/R
So nice of you to look for this for me, do appreciate your efforts. I'll look at the link you gave me.

Thank you so much for your trouble. These messages don't seem to carry a date, so don't know how old your
message is - we've been overseas for 6 weeks.
This marriage certainly looks likely. The date of the marriage is the exact same date as their sailing from Dublin
for Liverpool with his Cheshire Regiment. When he enlisted at Birr, Kings country in 1833 he gave his
occupation then as shoemaker. But I guess he could have changed to carpentery in that 7 years.
Can you tell me what is ....of N/R  ?
On 8th. Jan 1841 William and Catherine embarked for India from Gravesend. Their first child  Letitia is shown to be born
in Poona in 1841. There were 7 children in all born in India.

Hello Aussie Di.
that would be amazing. Walter Bifield Stevens  1856-1815 was my Great Grandfather. His fist marriage to Rose Anna
Roe 1851-1898(Born at Dughshai, India) to William and Catherine Roe ended with her death in 1864. He did then marry
again Myra Ellinor Harris in 1901. She was born in 1876.
My records only show two children Leonard Walter born in 1908 and George born in 1911.

Walter and Rose had 6 chidren, one of whom was my grandmother Muriel Ethel Stevens(1997-1970) Her daughter
Frances Rose(1911-2007) was my Mother.
I have been working on family history for some years now and making slow progress. I do have lots more information
to share if you are interested. I am in Brisbane Australia.

Thank you both for your interest.
My great great grandfather William Roe left Ireland with his Cheshire Regiment (22nd. foot)
in 1841 and never returned.
As he was born in 1816 in Birr, Kings County, I was hoping to find him as a 5 year old with his father, also William, aand family in the
1821 census for Birr I just saw at the local LDS family history centre. unfortunately no luck.
Two Roe families in this census, but not mine.
I am totally stuck so far so any help or advice is most welcome.
