Once again Looby & Anne thanks for your help, will speak to my friend tomorrow find out if she knows when her Dad changed his name to Sawyers. The Thomas Grahams at Gretna look promising though.

Thanks for your help Looby, I do think Jane/Catherine Sawyers is connected to my friend. I will look for a marriage between a Catherine Sawyers to ? Graham. My friend's sister may have some family certificates in a family book but she is not sure & sister is travelling right now. She hasn't mentioned her dad's marriage certificate but will mention it to her to ask her sister when  she returns. Cheers !!

Hi Anne & Looby, sorry not been in here recently. I have been ill this last few days, have COPD, heart problems & on oxygen. Anne, I got Rosanna McGee & Thomas Sawyers by searching for Catherine Sawyers from info my friend had given me, she said her grandmother was named Catherine ( who I was thinking could be a daughter of Catherine born 1862 but if she died same year can't be her) & there was a connection to McGee. She has paid for researcher but from what she said there is nothing she or rest of her family can relate to. Thomas Sawyers (my friend's father, son of Catherine was born 1910 & according to family story he was born on a tramcar ) For some time Thomas was known as Tony Graham & my friend thought this might mean his mother had married ? Graham ..... As to Jane Sawyers, my friend did receive the info below which could maybe the same one you mention Anne, I think this Jane is Catherine Thomas 1910 mother... So confusing when she doesn't have certificates. Something more about Jane ......General Registration found only one possible reference (1910-1911) in the whole of Scotland, a marriage took place in Garngadhill where Jane's son Thomas was born It states that Harry Churchill and Jane Fairweather Sawers married on the 30th December 1910. The McGee connection is to Sawyers family. Thanks for you help.

POSSIBLE entry for a Thomas Sawyers born 29 August 1910 at 2:30 a.m. at 25 Charles Street, Glasgow. Son of Jane Sawyers a cotton worker, no mention of a father.

Hi Katie, I have the dob re Elizabeth, the daughter of Alexander & Penuel  but nothing else. Did you know she also had a daughter before Elizabeth. Jemima Jane Douglas dob. 18/8/1873 at Pluscarden, Elgin. Penuel & the father James Douglas never married. Jemima married Robert Brander 29/1/1892 at Torhead, Pluscarden. It looks like Jemima also lived with her grandparents as she is at Torehead on 1881 census aged 8 & Penuel was re-married in Australia in 1880. Having trouble with my yahoo email so will get in touch from standby one. Thanks again for sharing your info.
