London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / Re: Sunshine family
« on: Tuesday 09 December 08 22:51 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, I think your Sunshines might be related to my Wests! On the 1851 census, William Sunshine and his wife Charlotte were listed as having George West and his wife Mary living with them in Great Pearl Street. He's listed as father in law.

George was the father of Mary Ann West who married James Watson in Stepney in 1844 and he's my 4x great grandfather.

If you've come across anything in your research that might be useful, it would be much appreciated and happy to share anything we have if it helps you.

All the best
Karin

Thanks, if anyone is ever interested, we know what happened to Priscilla so feel free to get in touch. Not sure about the other siblings.

I did a quick google on the Rev Whatley and others may be interested to know there is a site with many images of Aston Ingham and people who lived there over the years - you may know it already but the link is:

http://www.commanet.org/searchLink.aspx?language=English

A search on Aston Ingham brings up all the records for that village.

Thanks again, Karin

Many thanks for the info. We had been able to get the date of death from the headstone and this confirms she was buried a few days later.

Best wishes and good luck with your research.

Hi, I'm descended from Abrahalls from the Newent, Gloucestershire area. John Abrahall born abt 1755 and his wife Martha ended up in Aston Ingham, Herefordshire and are buried with a headstone in the churchyard there. If you theink there's a connection, happy to share further info.

The name Abrahall is registered with the Guild of One Name Studies (http://www.one-name.org/index_A.html) although there is no link to a specific website for the name but you can get in touch via the site if you're interested. You will also find loads of links if you do a general search - the family held land in Foy, Herefordshire and have been traced back to 1372 by various people. There is even a coat of arms featuring three hedgehogs!

Good luck and let me know if you need further info. on the Glos. branch.

Best wishes
Karin

I have some info. on a Welch family from the Sevenoaks area which includes a William. Details are:

William Welch born abt 1776 at Sundridge - ag lab
Married Lucy Whitehead - no marriage record yet found
Daughter Sophia (Sofey/Sophie) Welch born 1808 Sundridge - this is my line
Other children George (who is listed as blind in 1851), Silas, Stephen, William, Mary, ? Elvy (note that the last two children may actually be Sophia's but were illegitimate and lived with William and Lucy)

I have some more info. on Sophia and her children plus details of who William worked for if you think there's any connection. We haven't been able to go further back so far.

Best wishes
Karin
