London and Middlesex / Re: Tryon, Trioen, Tryoen Flemish Weavers to England
« on: Tuesday 09 April 13 05:13 BST (UK)  »
I do think I have seen the Trionne spelling. I know little of the family in England or Belgium.  That is why I am hoping to post this information on as many genealogy message boards as possible.  I know more about the Tryon's who came to America between 1650-1700 and settled in the areas known as Wethersfield and Glastonbury, Connecticut.

I know of my Tryon connections back to William and Rebecca Tryon of Bibury, Gloucestershire, England in the early to mid-1600s and I am seeking to find how they are related to Pieter Trioen who left Flanders ca 1550-1560 to settle in London, England.

I would like to hear more about your ancestor. Are you from London, England? Are your parents still living? Could they tell you something about this ancestor? Or any living aunts or uncles?

I do know that my Tryon's left the cities of Ypres, Wulvemgem (spelling?) and Antwerp and I would think there were some of the family in Brussels as well.

They were Flemish weavers and at the time they arrived in London, the area they left was called Flanders, which is part of the area that is along both sides of the French/Belgian border.

They were in the cloth trade as weavers, traded in wool, silk, etc., and would have been members of the various guilds. If you are in or near London, you could contact them and might be able to find out more about the family when they first arrived.

Please write when you find out more and keep in touch.

Thank you very much for replying to my post.

Looking for the parents and siblings of John STILL - information primarily before 1550.

He became a minister and was in Hadleigh, Suffolk and later became Bishop of Bath and Wells.

I am looking for the dates/places of births, marriages, deaths and burials of his parents and siblings.

He became the Rt. Rev. John Still, Bishop of Bath and Wells and is buried in the Wells Cathedral.

Thanks

London and Middlesex / Tryon, Trioen, Tryoen Flemish Weavers to England
« on: Thursday 04 April 13 08:49 BST (UK)  »

Seeking information on this family. They were Flemish weavers and have been known to have been in Ypres, Wulvemgem, and Antwerp, Belgium.

Some records suggest that part of the family settled in Bibury, Gloucestershire, prior to 1600.
Other records show a Pieter Trion, a Flemish weaver came to London  ca 1550-1560 with £60,000 and set up his cloth trade and weaving business. Many of his family were members of the Austin Friars Dutch Reform Church, others the church of St. Christopher le Stocks.

So far, none of the records show just how each of the families are related to each other. Other members of this line are found in other areas of England. Would appreciate any information on the family, the cloth trade, history of it, etc.  Thank You.  Mikki
