Moria,
Thank you for the interest in the Houston family.  This prompted me to get Mary Houston's birth certificate from the notebook I have been safe keeping.  I wonder if this was one of her relatives, even though the spelling is off.  We know she was born Septemer 14, 1882.  She had a bother Henry born in 1867.  We assume they were Catholic.  We know her father was John and mother was Mary Dever and when they came to the US with did some Dever's who lived with them in Philadelphia.
We have recently returned from a 12 day tour of beautiful Ireland and had a short stop in Donegal.  What a beautiful part the country.  It seemed that either you were off to sea or were farmers in the l1800'S.   If you find any information that may connect the family please keep me informed.  Not knowing anything about my past is disturbing, but after visiting understandable.
Thanks again,
BillyC

Hi Mary,
Margaret Kenney, daughter of William Kenney.  He was a Currier.
We do not have any idea of where she came from in Ireland.  or if indeed that is where she was born.   We assume they were from Northern Ireland.   The assumption came from reading and the fact they were  working in the cloth mills.   We will be in Ireland next week and are pulling out all straws to see if we can find anything.
Thanks,
BillyC

We received Mary Houston's* marriage certificate.
It states that she if from Donegal.  We have a certificate on Henry and his is from Donegal.  Thank you for your help.
We have solved one mystery and now on to the other  999.
We are looking for William Cummins*, in fact 2 of them.
One born in 1821, was an overseer in a flax mill .  He was my 3 x grandfather. 2 x grandfather born  in 1846 ( have birth record).  He was born in Preston, England on Bow Lane  We  can't find him on any other census in England.   We assume he went to Ireland.  We find other children born to Margaret and William (1821) in Ireland.  William is listed as a mechanic and Margaret is listed as a cloth reeler on William's  birth certificate.  We find her later on, but no William..  Most of their  children were born in Ireland (oldest ones 1853-1858).
We know William must have been around at that point because of the  children.  We find it odd that William and his brother never appear again on the English  census.  The next time we find them is 1867-68 in Philadelphia Pa. They were machinists . We are looking for roots in Ireland.  We would love to fill in the missing pieces.  Would share what we know and learn more.

Many thanks for this find.
We are reaching the time where we can stand on soil of our family.
I guess Mary Houston, Huston's father was from Tyrone.  She had the family certain she was from Tyronel.  She named her son's dog the Duke of Tyrone.   Just to let you know..........we have been down so many wrong roads, and were about to through in the towel.
Thanks for building up our confidence and hope.

Thanks again for all your help.  We will keep trying and if we don't find it  this year, maybe in the future.
You have really helped with the Cunnings aspect.  We thought these people fell off the face of the earth.

Our goal is to get the Cummins, Cunnings back to Ireland.  We will be in Ireland in September and are hoping to be able to connect in some manner.
We are like the commerical.  We book a trip to Ireland and find out our family is from England.  We have switvhed gears so many times my head is spinning.

Thank you, Thank you..........I am going to go back over my notes.
I recall seeing this, but being that I am a novice I skipped over Cunnings and Martha.
Again Thanks.
