Hi Stan,

Apologies for taking so long replying and the marriage was on March 23rd 1845 and was between George Bristow and Sarah Barben in Hoxton St John.

Thanks for all the replies and in no particular order - It definitley looks like Oil Puncher on the London marriages record on Ancestry, but I can't find the job anywhere on the internet.  His family are listed as oil crusher and linseed crusher in other records, so perhaps this is a rarely used archaic term?  The puncheon theory will be worth investigation.  Cow punchers were apparently named after the need to man handle cows eg cowpoke, nothing to do with another term for worker I'm afraid.

Hello an ancestor of my wife is listed as an Oil Puncher on his marriage certificate in 1845, in Hoxton, but I can't find it listed anywhere, so does anyone know what this profession was?

Thanks

Hi Skewy,  I've checked the marriages and I can't find a relevant marriage for a Catherine Williams and Allsop, so I'll keep looking.

Hi, I have the 1911 census but she is a student at home on that and I'm after her marriage which I suspect happened within 10 years.  However there are several Catherine Williams marrying in that time and I can't pin her down without buying lots of certificates.  If only Welsh surnames were slightly more varied!

Anglesey / Who did the Catherine Jennie Williams from Holyhead marry?

Hello,

I'm looking for the marriage of my great aunt, Catherine Jennie (Sian) Williams b. 1898 Valley, Anglesey, who was living with her parents William and Elizabeth Williams in Moreton Road, Holyhead in 1911.  I believe she had two children, Eunice and Glyn, if not more. She may have moved to Birkenhead and Coventry.  She was the sister of my grandfather John Richard Williams and had two sisters Mabel and Mary.

Thanks in advance.

I have got back to the late 1700's with the Porter family of Heckington and would welcome any info from anyone else researching Porters, Cox's, Asher's and Heckington in general.
