US Lookup Requests / Death in San Mateo Ca
« on: Wednesday 12 August 20 21:41 BST (UK)  »

I have traced an ancestor who I think died in Ca. His name is Primo Bonzani of Italian descent who came to the States after his wife died just weeks after they were married in Aberdeen in 1913.
I think he died in 1928/29 in San Mateo.

He was born in Sarano Masachesi and his father was Vincenzo Bonzani.

Can anyone help please.

Many years ago I visited my cousin in your beautiful state and I have fond memories of San Luis Obispo and Morro Bay.
Thank you for any help you can give me

This is an old post and I was able to help Seonaid some years ago as I live in Cruden Bay just along from where the photo was taken.

Although the bothy and land were sold the owners kept the salmon rights and they still fish for salmon. Bertie still helps the young man who now does the fishing so we often see him at the harbour.

I would imagine his warehouse was in the Music Hall in Peterhead -it was in Marischal St and is often seen in postcards looking along Chapel St towards Marischal St - the Music Hall was burned down in the 1930s and not replaced.

I am sorry it has taken so long to reply but I have had health problems and have been unable to sit for lengthy periods. I would love to have more information and to update you on all the Peterhead family.

Hi,

Many thanks for your reply. My grandmother was Mary's oldest sister. The youngest sister died in 2004 in her 100th year and it was her biggest regret that all contact with Mary's family was lost.

There was another daughter- are there any of her family still alive? I live in  a small village beside Peterhead where Mary was born and brought up.

My email is (*) should you wish to communicate off list,

Thanks  Again,

Margie

Canada Lookup Request / Begrie - Lost Family
« on: Monday 21 March 11 12:22 GMT (UK)  »
looking for information on any family of my
Great Grandmother's sister - the last communication we had was in 1966 with a burial card -
Golden Age Club
Little Chapel on the Corner - interment Queens Park
100 Bow Vally Lodges
Mary Begrie - died Dec 11  1966
I think the above is Calgary.
Mary was born in Peterhead Scotland in 1893 - her parents were Peter Milne and Margaret Bruce. Her Husband William was a railway worker .
Mary had two daughters but one was killed in an accident - I think the other was Mrs J J Maier- her first name was Margaret so maybe the JJ was her husband.

would appreciate any information relating to this family.
Many thanks

United States of America / Re: Buchan

Thank you Lisa - that was what I expected as I did not think that information from another source was accurate so disregard Peter and Christian altogether.

What is accurate is when Robert Bruce emigrated he went to a nephew Charles Buchan but we can find no entry for Charles in the Ellis Island records. We have no idea when he went to the USA.

When Robert arrived in NY on board the Assyria out of Glasgow, Charles his nephew was living at 547 Seaside Avenue, Terminal Island,Los Angeles.

Hope you have more success than we had. Many thanks,

Margie...............Peterhead and Cruden Bay

Further to my earlier posting I have now found more information and discovered that
Charles Gordon Buchan the fatHer of Peter who was married to Christian was born in the USA- don't know where but have a date- 5 Sept 1785.
He couldn't have stayed in the states very long as he married in 1810 to Elspet Buchan in Lonmay parish again.

I am not sure of the above information as it seems a bit early to be travelling so far especially with a wife as Charles's birth seems to suggest a family. This one is a real puzzle and I think the answers can only be found at your end as I have the family history all the way to the present day except for that period!

United States of America / Buchan

I am looking for information on Christian Buchan who came to the States sometime before 1857 as her daughter Jane was born in Oswego NY on July 7 1857.

I think the family moved back to Scotland as I found Jane aged 3 in the 1861 census.

The family seem to have gone back to the States as I think I have found Christian's death in Madison Arkansas in 1882 - 22 Feb however I then found her husband's death in Scotland in 1893.

Really need to have this clarified from the US end- many thanks for any help.

Margie..............Cruden Bay and Peterhead.
