Lancashire Lookup Requests / Re: JOHN DAVIDGE born 1752(said to be Bolton)???
« on: Monday 03 October 16 16:55 BST (UK)  »
Hi Everyone.
I have been in touch with Bolton Archives and received a little bit of info.
At Prestolee in the late 1700s there were 2 paper mills named Higher & lower Mills, however in 1777 lower mill closed and higher mill was extended and became  CREAMS  mill and was owned by the CROMPTON family..
Does anyone know of any records at all about this mill and the people that worked there.
Any help or info most welcome ,many thanks Arry

Hi Ladyhawk.
Now that sounds quite feasable ,if only i could get access to the apprenticeship records i might be able to pinpoint him better ,that would make him 40 when he married  and 44years old when he died .??.
all the best .

Hi Geoff.
Thanks for that ,my problem is that my lot hail from SHEFFIELD and my JOHN DAVIDGE on his marriage entry is down as BOLTON LANCASTER ,but we cannot find his birth reg anywhere .
Several years have passed since i started searching for this man to no avail.
Our thought's are that he was a papermaker ,so he would have to have done an apprenticeship.
I am a direct descendent of this guy and cannot get past him .
If i could find the right JOHN a papermaker it would make a lot of people worldwide very happy.
All the very best.
