Inverness / McGregor McDonald Fort William
« on: Tuesday 14 October 08 01:10 BST (UK)  »
Hi - I'm New here...
I am seeking information on Duncan McGregor who married Margaret McDonald before 1811, the only child I know of is Neil McGregor b. 1811 in Ft. William, he married Janet Wood.  Neil seems to have left Inverness for Edinborough before 1841 and then on to Perth in the 1870s.  Does anyone have Duncan, Margaret or any of their offspring in their research?
Thanks! Ann

Hi Tricia,
the name Scrimgeour came from James scrimgeour born about 1828. He married Jane Pearson d.o.b. 20/11/1856. They married in Moneydie, Perthshire 19/02/1886. James died 07/04/1900 and Jane died 01/03/1952. Both are buried at Moneydie parish church.
James was a Gamekeeper/Woodsman.
Scrimgeours were also Joiners in Moneydie.
James parents were Donald Scrimgeour and Jane Palmer.

hope this helps

Hi
I'm new on board... I joined because of your post - I am descended from Donald Scrimgeour and Jane Palmer.  They also had a daughter named Jane who married John Taylor in Kinnoull in 1845.  Donald and Jane are one of my dead-end brick walls and I am wondering if you know anything further about them.  Jane and John are my great, great, great grandparents. I am also looking for siblings of James and Jane Scrimgeour, on the 1851 census I seem to have located James and his mother as well as a granddaughter named Jean McGibbon.    Jane Scrimgeour was born in 1817 in Forfar, but her brother James was born in Perth, seems they were mobile people.
If you have anything further I'd be delighted!
Ann
