Hertfordshire Lookup Requests / Re: Hadham
« on: Friday 03 November 17 14:05 GMT (UK)  »
Thanks for your reply. I have not got my files to hand at the moment. From memory in 1841 both parents and daughter and son William were said to have been born in Essex. Subsequent censuses suggested that Dagenham was birthplace of son William which led me to concentrate on SE Essex but then found that the similar name of the Neave estate (now occupied by the GLC area of Havering) was a red herring. In recent months I have had very promising results in Stansted, Downham and Terling some of which had clues to Hadham

Barking, St Margaret's marriage register D/P 81/1/11 I searched this further back to 1784 (image 121) and found no more Chapmans. I have just noticed Ciderdrinker's message. If Richard Chapman was born in 1763 he may have procreating from mid 1770s.... back to the drawing board

I searched the register from 1796-1801 (images 1-15) and found the actual marriage for Charles Chapman at image 46 on 1st July 1796.The surname of the bride may be Dare not Done. The witnesses to the marriage were Frances Chapman and John Chapman

I looked at this from 1796-1800 (images 1-15) and found banns for William Chapman bachelor and Ann Done spinster published in July 1796. Nothing for a Richard yet

I have searched this from 1790-1796 images 137-157. The only Chapman marriage I can find is John Chapman bachelor married Sarah Smith by banns both otp on March 20 1796. Both made their mark. Witnesses were John Cuff and Wm Everett. These entries were right at the end of the register so I'll go on to the next one. More soon.

Hertfordshire Lookup Requests / Hadham
« on: Friday 03 November 17 11:21 GMT (UK)  »
After quite a few years searching in many Essex parishes for Marshalls I have stumbled on a clue that they have a few in Hertfordshire in or around Hadham in particular. I have learned that there is a place named Marshallwick in Hertfordshire!!
I would be very grateful for a look-up in Hadham for a William Marshall born circa 1837 to William Marshall and Jane Thanks Clincher

Parish register coverage will extend from at least 1538 to 1837 with the period 1837 to the present partly included at go-live date or planned imminently. Marriages within the last 50 years will be excluded, in compliance with government guidelines, however.

If the offer is exactly as described above and the digital images are as good as can be achieved I think the prices are reasonable. Think about the travelling time and costs saved
