Just to add a little more, the name Tompion is very famous in watchmaking circles.
Thomas Tompion of London is the main man, he worked in London almost a 100 years earlier.
I have also found a watch signed Rich Tompion London it is actually in the national watch and clock museum but only gives circa 1800 for a date
I am pretty sure I can place Rich Tompion based upon 2 hallmarked cases in Liverpool from 1793 up to 1810
So it looks like Rich Tompion was in London sometime before 1793

Hi Carole
I guess it is a hobby post, he is not a relative.
I have asked for information on the Watch and Clockmakers web forums which is where I was able to determine that he worked in Liverpool from around 1790 into the 1820s.This based partly on the fact that his name is engraved on some of his work from that time period and some of the books about the industry have ever so briefly mentioned him as 1790 -1803 Liverpool.
I have one of his watches but it has no date only a serial number but no serial number records.
He does Sign his watches Rich Tompion (perhaps to fit the surface)

Thanks

Ian

Hi
I am trying to find information on Rich Tompion.
He worked as a watchmaker in Liverpool from around 1790 and into the 1800s.
I would be interested to know when he died.
Thanks

Hello all
I am trying to find some background on 2 watchmakers.I have visited the watchmakers forums with little success.
Benjamin Barton was a watchmaker who according to his tombstone was born on May 20th 1767 and died March 24th 1816.He was married to Eliza Douglas April 1769 died Feb 16th1858
In 1801 he migrated to Alexandria, Virginia where he opened up his watch and clock business.
Where was he from in England? There is no record of him being a watchmaker in England that I can find?
Richard Tompion was a watchmaker who worked in Liverpool around 1790 - 1800 again I can find nothing on this guy either.

Any help would be appreciated

Lanarkshire / Dallas from Drumoyne
« on: Tuesday 17 January 12 06:44 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to locate a Mrs Dallas who lived in Drumoyne around 1935 - 1936
My biological grandfather probably has her maiden name
My Aunt had to go and pick up child support from her around that time
Any clues or snippets would be appreciated

Aberdeenshire / Grissel Roy and Robertson married at 15
« on: Tuesday 05 April 11 22:07 BST (UK)  »
Hi
I am tracking John Robertson who married Grissel Roy on October 25th 1783
Donald Roy and Margarett Fraser had Grissel on April 30th 1768
Grizel appears to have died in Glasgow of consumption April 28th 1825 aged 57
Is it likely that Grissel was 15 1/2  when she married farmer John Robertson?

Johan and Windsor
Doesn't it look like the Robert Munro and Jane Grant are the same grandparents?
