I was given the place of birthday by someone. I was unable to verify it. I followed all leads and they lead no where. Every few years a revisit his name in hopes of finding something new, but I never seem to be able to find anything. I have a lot of information on him after he came to Canada.

Donegal / Browne

Hello, I need some help with tracing Richard Browne. He was born about 1788 maybe in Drumgowan, Donegal, Ireland. His came from a respected, wealthy mercantile family. They were very upset when he decided to serve in the British Army and several times tried to buy him out. The army took him to Canada where he married Emily Wooley and had a family. That is all I know about his life before he came to Canada. Can anyone help?

Ireland / McKenney Clisdell
« on: Tuesday 09 April 24 18:53 BST (UK)  »
Hi, I haven't been on this site for years so I am hoping I am doing this right. I have extensive information on my McKenney line except for before they arrived in Canada. I know they are from Ireland but am not sure where in Ireland. John McKenney was born in Ireland in 1791. He married Mary Clisdell born 1793 in Ireland. They had six children that I am aware of. I think only the two eldest were born in Ireland. William in 1819 and Mary Ann in 1820. Their third was born in Canada around 1825 so sometime between 1820 and 1825 they left Ireland. I would appreciate any help I can get. Thanks.

Sorry if I am late in replying. I have been quite ill so I haven't been doing any family tree work. I was excited to see that you have information to share. If I give you my email could you send me what you have. I'm hoping that getting my mind off my health might actually help.(*)

Devon / Re: William Perryman, Mary Perry (Knowles)
« on: Wednesday 07 March 12 00:21 GMT (UK)  »
The dates of have for Mary were given to me by another researcher and I haven't been able to verify them.  What I was told was that she was born 1774 in Ottery St Mary, Devon and died in 1867 in Richmond, Yorkshire.  She married John Knowles nov 30 1789 in Ottery St Mary.  She had a son named John born march 17 1793 in Aylesbeare.

I am doubting that the death date or place is correct since her daughter has the same year and place listed.  Most likely a misprint from my source.

Thanks for the help

Devon / William PERRYMAN, Mary PERRY (KNOWLES)
« on: Tuesday 06 March 12 22:38 GMT (UK)  »
I am looking for info on William Perryman.  He married Mary Knowles (nee Perry) on May 2 1807 in Aylesbeare, Devon.  Mary was previously married to John Knowles.  Her children with Knowles resepected William Perryman so much that they often used his surname instead of Knowles.  I know absolutely nothing about him.  I expect he was born about 1770 since Mary was born in 1774.  Mary died in 1867 in Richmond, Yorkshire,  I know its not alot to go on, but I am hoping to find out something about William.  Maybe he was married before and had children or maybe he and Mary had children together.  Thanks for the help

Ireland / Re: Richard Browne 1788 Ireland

I'm pretty sure my Browne family weren't Catholic.  Unless, Richard converted when he came to Canada and married.   I doubt that though since the woman he married was baptized as an adult so if anyone converted it would probably have been her.  Richard Browne has been very hard to trace.
