Bill, I just stumbled upon your post while researching the Welsh family on Corehead. For what I've found so far (as it relates to the Hunter side of my family) please see http://waughfamily.ca/Hunter/index.htm How do you know that your John Welsh (father of Isabella) was born in Corehead? Do you have any more info on the Welsh's buried in Tweedsmuir? Thanks!

Lanarkshire / Re: Help needed- Russell family New Monkland, Airdrie

Hi, I was searching for the Thom family of Burnhead, New Monkland and came across your posts. We also have Russell's from Coatbridge and Chapelhall (our Elizabeth Russell married John Gray) and think there may be a connection to other Russell's in the area. We have quite a bit of info that may be of interest to you at http://www.waughfamily.ca/Russell/ If anyone sees any connections or has any additional information I would appreciate hearing from you. Many of the inhabitants of Bothwell Parish joined the Mormon Church and emigrated to America in the 1840s and 50s. If you have any "missing persons" from this time period you may want to check at http://mormonmigration.lib.byu.edu/ to see if you can find them there. That's where we found Elizabeth and many other relatives from New Monkland and Bothwell from that era.

Hi,

Great information. We have  George Wilson (weaver) who married Christian Bowie and had eight children in Airdrie between 1811 and 1831. Christian and her kids appear in the 1841 Census but not George. Maybe this is the same George Wilson. See http://www.waughfamily.ca/Wilson/index.htm for more information on this family.

I just started researching this line of ours yesterday so hope to have more information soon!

Hi again! I've finally come back to trying to find more info on James Green and Catherine Galloway. I have to thank people here for providing much of the information that helped me make a few connections. I have consolidated much of the info as it relates to my side of the family at http://www.waughfamily.ca/Galloway/ Just click on Catharine Galloway & James Green at the top (in case I've moved that info onto a "Green" page).

I'm still trying to find out who James Green's (b. about 1756) parents were. Any info or ideas?

Thanks.

Hi,

We have a Mary Green b. Aug 6, 1796, in Applegarth, died Aug 14, 1862 in Lochmaben. Her father was James Green (no other info) and mother Cathrin Galloway b. Nov 27, 1757, in Covington, Lanarkshire and died Nov 26, 1801, and buried in Applegarth. Mary's brothers and sisters were: George Green b. June 27, 1791, in Lochmaben, Margaret Green b. March 11, 1793, in Applegarth, and Montgomery Green b. March 5, 1800, in Lochmaben.

Mary married John Brockie March 29, 1816, in Lochmaben, and they had 8 little Brockies.

Does anyone have any more info or connections to these people?

Thanks

Thanks. No luck there, either. I'll try the Castleton connection and see...

Hi!

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I saw the list, but just wasn't sure who was who. I'm looking for information on Jean Elliott b. 15 July 1716 in Canonbie and her mother and father (Robert Elliot and Blench Graham - we have no info on them except their names). Jean married John Waugh b about 1710 and had two children (or more) Margaret Waugh b 1735 and William Waugh b 1741. That's all we have on our Elliotts.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Isobel,

Would you have any Waugh's or Graham's in Canonbie or Ewes on the list? Or any other information on Waugh's, Elliot's and Grahams in either parish before 1850?

Thanks!
