Hi my father was the nephew of Daniel Laidlaw Piper of Loos I am trying to find other relatives so that I can contact them and find out more about my ancestry.

I am not related to him. However, I do know some of his relatives.
Daniel has a Son interred at Leitholm called Loos Laidlaw. Daniel is ofcourse interred at Norham where he was postmaster after the War.

I did have pictures of the Renton stone at Oldhamstocks. I cleaned it up thinking it was one of my Rentons? But later didscovered it was not.

The stone was in very good condition at the time. That was 2 years ago.
It has writing on both sides of it, if i recall correctly?

Berwickshire / Re: Researching Halliday Ancestors in Berwickshire
« on: Sunday 27 May 12 09:03 BST (UK)  »
My ggg grandfather, George Halliday was born in 1754 in Fogo, his father was James Halliday born 1731 in Mertoun, no mother mentioned on bc.  George Halliday married Elizabeth Tait from Langton.  Would be interested to hear from anyone else researching Halliday/Tait from Berwickshire.

My Grandfather was taught to play the Bagpipes directly after WW1 by Robert MacNab Halliday. Robert came from Lauder originally and settled in Gorebridge Midlothian Scotland. He served as a Piper in the 25th of foot Kings Own Scottish Borderers. In 1916 he was promoted to Pipemajor of the 7/8th KOSB. His father was George Halliday a Blacksmith. His Mother was Mary Ann MacNab.
Robert died in September 1949 aged 75

Berwickshire / Re: Bogend Farm near Duns, Berwickshire
« on: Tuesday 22 May 12 14:20 BST (UK)  »

Mt G G Grandmother Jane Renton nee Fair widow of William Renton
died at Bogend in March 1890.

Most of her relatives were living nearby.

Son in law Robert Jenkinson was a farm labourer with wife Hellen Renton at Fogo House in 1881.

Grandson Thomas Jenkinson was Farm Grieve at Sisterpath Fogo in 1911.

Grandaughter Isabella Jenkinson & Husband Thomas Newton were also at Sisterpath in 1911.

They all seemed to be in the Fogo area over a 20 year period.

My late Grandfather R J Aitchison visited relatives at Bogend throughout the 1920's & 30's. However we don't really know who they were?
