Fife / John Kennedy Minister of East Wemyss and wife Elizabeth Rollo
« on: Monday 22 June 15 23:03 BST (UK)  »
John Kennedy was the Minister of East Wemyss prior to 1898 through at least his wife's death in 1939.  I am looking for any descendants of this couple, I know they had two sons; George Rollo Kennedy born 1901 and David born 1909.  John dies in 1963 at Windygates and Elizabeth died earlier in 1939.  I wonder if there are any photos of the couple out there since he was the Minister and if they are buried in the East Wemyss Cemetery or somewhere else. Thanks for any ideas or assistance in advance.

Thanks Kinsey, I have checked that sight, great amount of data there.  I did see there were a few inns on Broad st.  I've been digging around the internet looking for inns in Littledean.  Google shows the Kings Head, and the Bellfry.  Not sure where else to look.

On Broad St. William Edge is an Innkeeper, anyone know what the name of the Inn was and where on Broad St. it was located?  My ancestor Richard Newman was a blacksmith living next door, but in the parish records (not online) he states he is an innkeeper approx 1809-1815?  Wondering if there are any photos of said Inn?  Thanks for any thoughts or ideas in advance.

I know for my Scottish Exciseman, there were pension files with amounts paid and dates on cards.  Not much genealogical info though it was nice to have it verified on paper that he actually was what was on the monument and baptism records.  I would still have a look at them since they do have them.  You never know if there is something that might come in handy.

Have you had any other success researching him?  I'm looking at researching the topic since mine was a Supervisor but haven't found any books/pamphlets on the subject.  I have no idea where he came from though and had hoped that the records would give something.

GR2: thanks so much for that tip of the NLS, spent some time last evening delving through the maps.  I'm having problems with the terminology sometimes; for instance this Burn I'm seeing, what exactly does that mean?  The Manse was the parish house I believe, what about Mains?  I apologize for not knowing my Scottish terms.  I do have a great deal to learn.  I also have checked the Marnoch monumental inscriptions and had sent a letter to the minister years ago, but there wasn't any knowledge of where they were buried.  Probably no stone :(

Forfarian:Wow!  Thanks for all your help.  I just returned home from a long day at work and couldn't wait to check all that out.  Still processing.  Love that site geograph.org.uk.  Never knew there would be so many photos of the areas I'm interested in.  Have googled the area but that didn't show up.  I know that my great grandfather was born (he stated to his daughter) in Rothiemay, not sure if it was the burns of Rothiemay. Again, thank you for trying to make me understand where Barbara might have been living.  I realize that the census is only as good as someone who has local knowledge for deciphering locations.  Some of these I know have been wrong but without that local info I'm lost.

Appreciate all the assistance  :)

« on: Wednesday 10 October 12 03:13 BST (UK)  »
Looking for the parents of my Helen Rollo born about 1723 possibly in Leuchars, married 13 Oct 1744 in Leuchars to an Alexander Auchterlonie.  I can not find her parents, I have lots of Rollos, but no one has a Helen of the appropriate time frame.  Any assistance is greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

Tipperary / Hoolehan, Patrick
« on: Tuesday 09 October 12 17:36 BST (UK)  »
I have a Patrick Hoolehan and his wife Winiford Hetherington that had a child Annie M born about 1858 in this county.  I believe he is from the townland or parish of Kneigh.  He gives his parents as John and Hanora.  Any one with connections? The family leaves before 1861 for Leeds, England and then on to America in 1865.
