Thank you for that information.  Is there anyway I can get parish records for birth in Guernsey circa 1836?

I am trying to find details of my great great grandfather's birth on Guernsey.  His name was Thomas Alexander Morris.  He was born about 1836.  His father was Bernard William Morris, and I think his mother was Elizabeth.  The family moved to Jersey by 1841.

Any help appreciated.

Merl,

I think you need to have 3 posts before we can go private emails.  I already have the death and marriage certificates for William Sayer Price and Elizabeth Harris and I am more that happy to email them to you.

Merl,

I know very little about how and why only Elizabeth emigrated to Australia somewhere between 1851 (England census) and 1857 when she married William Sayer Price in Beechworth.

I do have a fair bit of information of her life in Rutherglen and that of her family.  I am the great, great granddaughter of  Elizabeth and William Sayer Price.  My great grandmother is Marion Elizabeth Price (b. 1860 Rutherglen) and my grandmother is Olive Rose Chandler (b. 1892 Rutherglen).

Would love any other information on the children of either Elizabeth & William Sayer Price or their offspring.

MT,

Thank you for your reply.  I see you are new to RootsChat.

I would love more information on Charles and Elizabeth, I only have what in on census data.  I have a fair bit of information on Charles oldest sister Elizabeth who emigrated to Australia in the 1850s.  Don't know very much about her and whether she travelled to Aus on her own or with friends/relatives.  She married William Sayer Price in Rutherglen, Victoria in 1857 where she lived and raised 7 children.

I understand that after several responses on this website, we can then communicate privately.  Looking forward to your next reply.

John,

Great to see that you have found this site.  Over the years I have made some amazing contacts and received invaluable help with my research.

Once you have done enough posts (I think it is 3, its when the green scroll turns bright green), we can communicate privately by email.  I can fill in quite a bit for the Stanhope side of Rippon who ended up in Australia.  Rippon is a family name that has carried on throughout the generations of my family since arriving here in the mid 1850s.  It was my uncles middle name and he was known as Rip.

Keep in touch, looking forward to our private discussions.

Channel Islands Lookup Requests / MORRIS Guernsey birth lookup
« on: Tuesday 07 June 11 01:58 BST (UK)  »
Could someone kindly lookup the birth details of my GGGrandfather Thomas Alexander Morris.  His parents were Bernard William Morris and Elizabeth Page (?).  They moved from London to Guernsey with their 2 eldest children William Bernard and Sarah Elizabeth between 1832-1836, when Thomas was born.  Between 1836-1841 the family then moved to Jersey.

If someone can help me with this family, both their short time in Guernsey and then in St Helier, Jersey it would be appreciated.

Channel Islands Lookup Requests / MORRIS St Helier Jersey lookup
« on: Tuesday 07 June 11 01:39 BST (UK)  »
Would it be possible for someone to look up whether Sarah Elizabeth Eastley (nee Morris) remarried after the death of her husband Thomas Coad Eastley or remained a widow on Jersey.  Sarah was born in Marylebone, London in about 1830 and moved with her parents Bernard William and Elizabeth to St Helier in about 1840.  Sarah married Thomas Eastley in about 1856 and Thomas died between 1861 - 1871.  On the 1871 census Sarah is shown as a widow offering furnished lodgings in St Helier.  I have no information of the daughter  of Sarah and Thomas Eastley Emile Elizabeth Eastley born June 1857.

Also, previously I had someone very kindly look up the death details of Elizabeth Morris (I believe nee Page).  What information do death records contain? - maiden name? where born?

Thanks for your help.

Hirdy :)
