Hi Dob

I quite agree with what you say, she is very vague.  It bothers me that she writes books and it shows in what she has written about her own ancestry, its very flowery and "enhanced" I reckon.  She may be right..... but there are one or two leaps of faith in there which I dont like taking unless all avenues to the truth have come to nothing!!

Johnson website is great though, whats the betting the only record he missed out transcribing is the one we really really want!!  lol  that'd be typical.

All being well I hope to get over that way to check a few records out this coming summer anyway.

Thanks for the other info - I'll contact you on there if I come to any conclusions!

Cheers Simon (MM)

Hi Dob

Sorry I've been a while getting back to this one!  The more I look into this, the more I'm unsure I have the correct parents for George Cutts.  Trying to cross reference my old notes and information I have and also a website I've found which lists a lot of the Cutts in the Bolsover and surrounding area, Im getting nowhere fast!

(If you do a search on yahoo for bolsover cutts then follow the journeymouse website you can find the link through there for the Cutts website)

It does list a Frances Fox marrying a George Cutts but checking through the baptisms listed for George and Frances I see no George as son...  - the jump from being Frances to Fanny bothers me still as well.

However i did manage to find a George Cutts listed on non-conformist - baptised 14/12/1827 at Wesleyan Methodist Church, East Retford Notts, which is again a maybe, although I think that George was born 11/01/1823... which again doesnt tie in with the age given at his trial which I think was 1825/26 if I remember?

Haven't had much time the last week or so to look further but will try to make more sense of where I am on this probably next week now.

If I do crack it then will post again.

Cheers
MM

Hi Dob,

Not sure if you are still looking for more information on George, but I know his father was another George, born c1784, but not 100% sure where as yet... I'm following a lead on that as its been suggested in North Carolina, USA, but very sceptical there.

His mother was Frances Fox, known as Fanny born c 1796 in Heath, Derbys, but again I need to check that to make sure as 1792 is also a date i have.

Its possible I have a further generation back to them, another George who married a lady called Rebecca Charlesworth but until I have proven for myself the above they just remain notes!!

Hope that helps
Kind regards
MM
