Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / Re: 1851 Census Easingwold
« on: Saturday 30 May 15 17:03 BST (UK)  »
Thank you for sending me these details.   The family are ancestors of a friend in America.   I did the research for her.   Rev John Sutcliffe died in 1864 in Kenilworth.   It would appear that his children were all sent to Boarding schools.   Found his parents but as far as I know that is as far as it went.
I would imagine your wife's ancestor was a member of John's church and was encouraged to write to Rev John when they left.
I am not pursuing the family these days.

Thanks again

Wilma

I have found Lydia's baptism in Clerkenwell and can confirm she is Selina's sister (Selina bap. 1780)

At least we can assume that John Rutter Lamb and George were brothers - if we can find them

Wow this sounds interesting especially as John named his son George.  Pity George couldn't have made it to 1851 census!!
I will try and follow it up.

Thanks a lot

Yes thank you this is John Rutter Lamb.  I have a copy of his burial entry which was transcribed as Butter but actually reads as Rutter.

Lancashire Lookup Requests / John Rutter LAMB
« on: Tuesday 11 March 14 10:09 GMT (UK)  »
I am looking for the birth/baptism of John Rutter LAMB c 1772.   I know he married Selina Pbillips in Clerkenwell, London in 1798 (his given abode as Manchester).   He died 1824 in Manchester.   Occupation Mercer.
I have looked for a LAMB/RUTTER marriage but the only one I found was in Kent 1759 but no son John sadly.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks Wilma

Thanks for looking.   I haven't got the marriage certificate.   Various websites say he was married to an Emily Taylor but could find no marriage entry in BMD index.   However on census his wife is given as Emily born in Stone, Kent 1832.    The first child I found was born in 1852.  They did move around a lot!

Thanks again  Wilma

If anyone has access to either or both of these parish records I would be grateful for a look up for:-

John Amos DAYMAN  born c.1815

He might be listed as Amos John Dayman as these two names interchanged at times.

Any help much appreciated
