Thanks again Sue.

I would say Catherine B & Mary would be the 2 deceased females & Thomas J is the male mentioned on Betsy's b.cert. It all adds up.

There is an Eliza R who passed in 1912, so she either married in 1915 or died in 1912.

Betsy married Christopher James Ross in 1913. I have no idea what happened to Margaret, hopefully she got married and had alot of children.

I have one last piece of information I forgot to mention, Mary Ann Lynch's birthdate was 12th of July 1849. My great aunt had that written down in some notes so hopefully it will match when I get the cert!

The search for Thomas Farley continues...

I just found this after a search of Thomas Farley on http://addison.homedns.org/

Western Post (Newspaper)
POLICE COURT
Friday November 23 (1861)

Thomas FARLEY was charged with stealing harness.
C. HARDY said he apprehended the prisoner in Lawson-street from a description he had seen of him in the Crime Report, charging him with stealing a quantity of harness. He admitted he was the person described, and that he had bought the harness from two Chinamen.
Remanded to Windeyer. Bail allowed.

Could be my Thomas...

Hunter valley society wont take my email (hotmail) address so I will need to get a new one before I get any help from them.

I will obtain the suspected death cert for Mary Ann (from a transcrption agent) & hope it has her children listed.

As far as Thomas goes, there is no record of any birth in 1846 (first is 1856) & since I have no idea when he died it looks like I am back to square one. Unless of course I can locate the records of the catholic church in Moggymill & get some info there.

Thanks everyone for your time, sorry for the frustration...
Willo.

Thanks Sue. So here is the candidate for Mary Ann Lynch:

Birth Cert V18491980 66/1849
LYNCH  MARY A
JOHN  JANE
Death Cert 18689/1934
FARLEY  MARY A
JOHN  JANE  REDFERN

Her suspected father is John E(dward) Lynch...

Do death certs list children?

Any ideas on how to track down Thomas? Are there any other records I could look for?

I have no idea about the marriage of Mary Ann's parents. All I was told is Mary's mother was born in Ireland & arrived in Australia 1842.

Thanks,
Willo.

Hi Jenn,

Thats what is says on Betsy's b.cert. Could be wrong but its all i have...

1856 is the earliest Thomas Farley on NSW BDM.  :-\

I just had a look at Betsy's birth cert & notice it has her fathers age & place of birth. That's where Newcastle, NSW comes from. It also says he was 49 when she was born on 18th of July, 1895. That would put his birth around 1846.

Newcastle & Mudgee are not exactly close & the 10 year age difference make me doubt its the same Thomas Farley.  :(

Well Sue, all thats left now is place of residence for the married couple. Could come in handy I guess...

Just to clarify, its Lilias Mary Lynch I'm after & she was a witness to the wedding. I am assuming that she was related to Mary Ann. I know I am clutching at straws but this family is hard to nail down.

It could be White Creek Nth nr. Olimar Stn. Looks like I need a good map.

Thanks again for the help, I appreciate it.

Willo.
