Travelling People / 7th daughters

My grandmother claimed to be the seventh daughter of the seventh daughter of a gypsy, but she died in a mental hospital in 1976.

Can anyone tell me what this claim might mean in gypsy lore?

Her name was Annie Green and she lived in Bilston, Staffs, 1897-1970.
