Suffolk / Suffolk and Cumberland Assizes
« on: Sunday 07 June 09 03:57 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I am trying to find information on 2 convicts in my family line. I know the dates of their trials but can't for the life of me find the Suffolk (1812) and Cumberland (1816) Assizes.

Can anyone give me  a clue or a link to these courts?

Tipperary / Thomas James Dwyer
« on: Tuesday 05 May 09 11:17 BST (UK)  »
Hi
My ggrandfather was Thomas James Dwyer and according to his marriage certificate he was born in Cashel, Tipperary around 1856. He was married at the age of 21 to Catherine Fleiner on 12th February 1877 in Queensland, Australia.

On the marriage certificate his parents are shown as Edwin Dwyer and Mary Marooney but I cannot find any bdm of them or Thomas.

Is there anyone who might be able to give me some clues?
Cheers

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Re: John Beerclark(e) & Francis Kelly

Hi Chiad

I don't think Frances Clarke is the lady we are looking for.

The marriage certificate for Francis Deborah Mary Jemima Beerclark (27 June 1864) states that she was 22 years old when she married. That would make a date of birth around 1842. The name on the certificate is Francis Deborah Mary Jemima Beer Clark but I am not sure who wrote the name.

I can send you a copy of the marriage certificate. Let me know if you want it.

Hi Pauline

In regards to the witnesses to the Beaton-Beerclark marriage, they were E. Russell and Sarah Noakes.

Those names don't mean anything to me.

Hi CaroleW

I do not have any information regarding the Beerclark(e) who died coming out to Australia other than it was a female. This record is on the site at familysearch.org/eng/search and has been put there by a person researching her family. I do not know how correct that entry is.

On the marriage certificate of Francis Deborah Mary Jemima Beerclark(e) she states that her birthplace was Lancashire. Her death certificate states she was born in Liverpool. Also the death certificate states she was in Australia for 63 years, so she was 11 years old when she came to Australia. I do not know if she came with her parents or a relative and so far I have not been able to find a death of John Beerclark(e) in Australia.

I have a Francis Deborah Mary Jemima Beerclark(e) in my family line, her parents were John Beerclark(e) and Francis Kelly.

Her marriage certificate in 1864 states she was born in Lancashire about 1842. I cannot find any more reference to the Beerclark(e) surname other than her father's name and that a Beerclark(e) died on the ship while travelling to Australia.

Also have the surname of Dyest in the line but can only find three references in Australia but they must have come from somewhere. What nationality is the surname Dyest?

Any assistance will be very welcome.

Argyllshire / Re: Birth of Angus Beaton-Argyllshire
« on: Sunday 12 April 09 02:30 BST (UK)  »
Hi Ambly

There is quite a trail of names with Angus & Mary and I have listed below names as they appear in documents.

The passenger list for the family leaving Liverpool on 28 Aug 1852 aboard the MARMION bound for Moreton Bay Queensland.

Angus & Mary
Donald Beaton
Christy Beaton
Mizee Beaton
Neil Beaton
Sally Beaton
An Alexander Beaton left Liverpool on 16 June 1855 aboard the SWITZERLAND bound for Adelaide South Australia.

The arrival record of the Beatons on the MARMION was in December 1852, which came from the Victorian Public Records Office. Not sure why this record is in Victorian records as Moreton Bay is in Queensland, maybe that was head office at the time. Listed as arriving in Australia are

Angus & Mary
Maria Beaton - 22 years
Donald Beaton - 17 years
Christie Beaton - 11 years
Mary Beaton - 9 years
Neil Beaton - 6 years
Margery Beaton - 4 years

Mary Beaton died on 1 September 1895 at Hanilton Victoria and listed on her death registration as issue are

Marion - 66 years
John - deceased
Alexander - deceased
Donald - 59 years
Mary - deceased
Christina - 54 years
Mary - 52 years
Neil - 49 years
Marjory - 47 years

As each document was completed through time more names seemed to come to light.

The birth of Angus Beaton and his parents has me at a dead end. Any help you may be able to give about Angus would be much appreciated.

Argyllshire / Birth of Angus Beaton-Argyllshire
« on: Saturday 11 April 09 12:51 BST (UK)  »
Hi, I am a new member as of today. I live in Australia in the far north of tropical Queensland, an area of big rains and cyclones, otherwise it is paradise.

I am searching for Angus Beaton. The 1851 Scotland census shows an estimated birth for Angus of 1796 and living in Parish of Kilninian and Kilmore, County Argyll and address Dervaig. Angus married Mary Beaton, date unknown. The birth place on the census for Angus is shown as Morvern, Argyllshire. The 1851 census indicates that children of Angus and Mary were Christy, Donald, Mary jnr and Mazy. The family emigrated to Australia from Liverpool on 28 August 1852 and arrived in Queensland in Dec 1852. Mary Beaton's parents were Donald Beaton and Rachel Paterson.

Does anyone have any idea where I might find his birth and marriage.

Berlor
