I think you're right but I'll keep searching.

Sorry, about duplicate posting but I really don't know what I have done, must be my age!

No, my uncle knew nothing about being illegitimate, he told me in his not so nice letter, until he was 42 and was getting married and asked for his Birth Certificate.  He told me to mind my own business and not to upset his daughter, which was completely wrong as when I spoke to his daughter about our tree and she realized my granddad had died before her dad was born, she was fine with it and just laughed and we talked about those sort of things happening.  I have nobody to ask as my dad's family have all died although I have a cousin who said his mum mentioned a younger brother.  I suppose I will have to keep trying to find something, somewhere but it's sad when I'm so far away, I can't just go to the records office and search for something.  Thanks anyway.

Thanks very much.  It's the early 1920's I am looking for, Arthur is my dad but I am looking for Leonard and Ronald.  My uncle Len I knew very well but at the time didn't know what had gone on and when I mentioned it to his daughter a few years ago, in confidence she said, she went and told him and he wrote me a not so nice letter and told me to mind my own business.  He has since died so I won't upset anyone.  The brother was Ronald.  I'm looking for someone who could have been the father.

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / Eliza Amelia Lazell (nee Kemsley)

I am not sure if I have the right board, London and Middlesex but I am trying to find out information on my nan.  My dad's father died in 1911 when my dad was 6 but my nan went on to have two more children in the early 1920's (one died aged 3).  There was no fathers name on either Birth Certificate so I have been wondering who could have possibly have been their father.  I spoke to somebody on Roots Chat and she recommended me contacting you to see if we can find out some further information.  Thank you.

Ha, yes but you'd be surprised how many there are.  Thanks so much.

It was in Hackney, London so I would think Kew would be the records office in question.  I would love to get some help from Rootschat so would it be the London board?  My nan was Eliza Amelia Lazell (nee Kemsley).  If you could point me in the right direction I will ask.  Thanks so much.

Thank you Alpine Cottage that's very helpful.  I have been living in the USA since 2003 so it's difficult for me to get information as I can't get to any records office.  If only I had known when I was living at home then I could have tried more to get the information.  Nobody ever spoke about it, it was very difficult getting any information at all even about my dad's father as my dad's sisters always told me they didn't remember and to be honest they were all young when he died but on the other hand usually you are only too pleased to talk about things like that, well we are now.  I am now 68 so hopefully I will still be around in 2021 when the next census records come out, why on earth they don't release them earlier like they do here I don't know.  Not that I think this place is better than the UK, no way is that true. I did speak to one of my dad's cousins about 5 years ago on the telephone because she wanted some information on our tree and she said her mum, my nan's sister, told her she knew who the father was but never mentioned any names.  What a shame really but if I can't find it then I have to let it go, hard as it is.
