Westmorland / John Cook, Barrow, Crook Hall
« on: Monday 16 May 11 20:36 BST (UK)  »
In the Armitt Liby in Ambleside, there is book of local tunes with the following inscription -
I, John Cook Crook Born The 12th of April In care [?] of Lord 1778
It also mentions [?] Barrow Crook Hall
Any information on any of the above would be very welcome
Thanks

Sorry Andrea, I didn't realise about living people. But have no worries, he  died some time ago.

As a local musician, I would be interested in any information that you have about his relationship with William Irwin. The music manuscript book belonging to Henry Stables is in the Vaughan Williams Library at Cecil Sharp House in London.
Was he an ancestor of Jonathan Stables the architect in Ambleside?

Hello Lancslass,
Is the Henry Stables that you are interested in, the same person who was a fiddler in Langdale and a pupil of William Irwin?
