New Zealand Completed Requests / Re: James Tracy and family
« on: Sunday 25 July 10 09:32 BST (UK)  »
Hi John,

Thanks very much for searching for my Tracy family.   As the James Tracy in the deaths in the NZbmd is the closest I have ever come across, I think I will do as you suggest.

Thanks again

kind regards

New Zealand Completed Requests / Re: James Tracy and family

Hi,

Thanks Althea and Janette.

The Irene May Tracey death won't be mine if she was a widow.   My Irene was single when she left the UK.   At least she was in 1943 when she is named in her Aunt's Will and I have never been able to find a marriage for her here in the UK!!!

Looks like this family is going to always be elusive  :'(

Thanks again

Hi Althea,

Yes, they must have been getting on a bit when they went to NZ.  Daughter Irene did go with them and she was single.  She will have been in her 40's/50's at the time.

Thanks

New Zealand Completed Requests / James Tracy and family COMPLETED THANKYOU
« on: Wednesday 21 July 10 16:58 BST (UK)  »
Has anyone got access to recent directories and electoral rolls?  As recent as
1943 to 1960.

James Tracy or Tracey born abt 1876 in England, his wife Mary Alice born 1867 in England and there daughter Irene born 1902 in Manchester.   They emigrated to New Zealand sometime between 1943 and 1955, but to what part I have no idea.  I have never been able to find them on any online passenger lists.   The nearest thing I have found is from the NZbmd website which lists in the deaths:  James Tracy died 1954 age 78 years, but doesn't give any information as to what part of NZ, I assume you have to send for the certificate to find any further information which is not easy as I live in the UK.   The death year and age at death fits in with James birth year, but of course can't be sure that this is the right one.

James occupation when in the UK was an Estate Agent, but assume he was retired when they went to NZ.

I have been looking for this family for a few years now without any success so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Lancashire / Re: Shard House, Hambleton, Poulton-le-Fylde
« on: Thursday 02 July 09 16:43 BST (UK)  »
Hi Aulus,

Thanks very much for the link showing the old and new Shard bridge.   Like the picture and the toll charges are interesting.   It's also of interest that Shard House may well still exist, in fact Shard House could be one of the properties shown in the picture I suppose.

I remember my dad mentioning about the toll bridge, he still had to pay even though it was a distant relative who owned it.

Thanks again.

kind regards

Hi LancsLass,

Thanks for your response.

Yes, I came across that when I googled the other day, but I wanted an older picture if poss when it was the old toll bridge back in the early 1900's.   Really a picture of Shard House is preferable so I can see what it looked like.   Don't know if it has been demolished or taken over for something else  :(

kind regards

georgie
