Thank you for your message. I know while I made my video it was emotional for me but I didn't think it would move others as such. I hope we find what became of Eliza. It would be nice to know if we have family over in England or if our Parker line is only through my Grandpa and ends here in Canada. Maybe even their mother, Mary Ann, went on to marry and had more children - one never knows! I shall continue to search. Again, thank you kindly.

Oh my goodness. The last posts dated on this search was 2009 and I never thought to update my request for help since it had been dormant for nearly 2 years. I thank those who are trying to help!

WHAT HAS BEEN DISCOVERED SINCE MY ORIGINAL POST:

William Henry Parker (Grandpa) is indeed the one in the Union Workhouse of Sheffield. His birth date did end up being Feb 10 1890. He was 2 years older than he thought. I have since uncovered 2 photos of him ;D

It was also discovered he had 2 siblings we did not know of - A younger brother Harry, who would become a Barnardo Boy sent here to Canada as a British Home Child in 1910. His story was quite fascinating and I learned much of a sad part of history. He also had a sister Eliza sent to Lincoln to the Girls Friendly Society. All of them were born in the Workhouse to Mary Ann Parker, a single pauper with no father listed for either of them. What became of the mother after all the children were dispersed, we do not know. All we know of her, is her name and possibly born abt 1870 - give or take a couple years.

My new search goal is to find what became of Eliza Parker who is last found as a servant, single, age 22 in 1911 census, in Gainsborough. Her date of birth registered is November 26 1886 in the Workhouse. No marriage or death found for her as of yet.

I did do a short video story for a project you can see on youtube for their story if interested in seeing it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B5671A5lz64 It is called the workhouse and home children. You can see where my search progress is as of today by watching it. I have learned much of our history by doing this family tree.

Thank you all !!

Hello KLM (airline?)

R.H. --- R.F.A. is exactly how it appears on his tombstone. I am thinking it is likely the Royal Horse Artillery for the R.H.

I think that is great that you once served in the R.H.A. even for just a short time. May I ask when this was? and what you did thereafter? Forgive me as I do not know what 'ex HAG' stands for  :-[

As for the callibre (30mmavenger) - I love this plane! and only once was able to see one close up at an airshow nearby and it did a wonderful flyby.  ;D

I am still in search of his parent's names. I get so caught up in the research and find myself being able to spend hours just looking through websites at pictures of unknown soldiers and reading forums. I find it all fascinating and quite somber as well.

Thank you brazilianwonderboy!

That was funny with the teeth thing - well not funny haha but a strange funny - hopefully that is not my William Henry! That's not how I'd want to picture Grandpa. Whoever he is, I hope he got new teeth! If it helps you find my W.H. this is his military info:

He served four and half years in France during the 1914-1918 war in the British Expedition Forces (B.E.F.) as a Driver with the R.F.A. Was listed in the R.H. (Royal Horseman) and the R.F.A. (Royal Field Artillery) units. He enlisted in Aug 1914 and was discharged in Feb 1919. His war medal card shows he received the Victory medal, the British medal and the 1915 Star medal, Theater of war - code 1, France. Qualifying date 8-7-15.

That is all I have about his military days.

Plus all documents I do have state born 1892.

Thanks for looking brazilianwonderboy

Thanks for the replies. I will order the certificate this month and save everyone the hassle! Way too many parishes to search through! I didn't realize there where parishes involved (which I think is like counties are here). And of course, I have no clue as to which one. Again, thanks.

I am searching for the parents names of William Henry Parker and any of his siblings. He has been quite a mystery to say the least while he was in England. From the funeral home archives it states born Jan 7 1892 in Sheffield, England. In the area where it asks for parents names - LEFT BLANK!   :(
I am starting to think he had NO parents when he met and married Emma and that is why she did not provide the names? Maybe she did not know their names. Or maybe it wasn't added cause he died here in Canada and she felt no need to add his parents names in the obituary. I don't know. Just thoughts I've been bouncing around!!

MILITARY: he served in the B.E.F. WWI 1914-1918 in France and Belgium as a Driver. Units: #33448 in R.H. (Royal Horseman) and the R.F.A. (Royal Field Artillery). I do have copy of his medal card and legion membership.

IMMIGRATION: in 1920 to Canada with his wife Emma and their 1yr old son, Harry. (taken from passenger list)

He died Nov 29 1944 in Ontario, Canada at 52 years of age.

MARRIAGE INFO: (will be ordering certificate soon in hopes of names)

HIS WIFE:
Emma Mae GOODMAN is the daughter of Charles Hillier GOODMAN and Florence MILTON.
Emma's siblings, Jessie Minnie, Charles, Florence, Margaret and/or May
Emma was born on Nov 9 1896 in Hackney, England, UK.
She died on May 8 1972 en route to London, England by air to visit her only surviving sister at the time, Mrs. Joseph (May) Brewer.

Other helpful forum members are baffled as we are unable to locate William's birth in Sheffield on that date. And the 1891 and 1901 census has various William Parkers with a birth year of 1892. I am hoping someone is able to pull information records on him - find his birth record - find his parent's names. I'm beginning to think he was an orphan!?

Thank you!

:-\ Someone had advised me that the marriage certificate would not show the parents names but it would show witnesses and advised parish records would be more complete. I will order the certificate but I'd still appreciate someone looking into parish records for me.

Thanks!

My MAIN search is seeking the parents names of William Henry Parker :

William Henry PARKER born 1892 in England.
He served in the B.E.F. WWI 1914-1918 in France and Belgium as a Driver. Units: #33448 in R.H. (Royal Horseman) and the R.F.A. (Royal Field Artillery). (I do have his medal card)
He married Emma Goodman in West Ham, Essex in 1918.
They immigrated in 1920 to Canada with their 1yr old son Harry.
He died Nov 29 1944 in Ontario, Canada.

Seeking surviving family members (if possible) of Emma's sister, May or any of the other siblings :

Emma Mae GOODMAN is the daughter of Charles Hillier GOODMAN and Florence MILTON.
Emma's siblings, Jessie Minnie, Charles, Florence, Margaret or May
Emma was born on Nov 9 1896 in Hackney, England, UK.
She died on May 8 1972 en route to London, England by air to visit her only surviving sister at the time, Mrs. Joseph (May) Brewer.

With the help of other forums, we are unable to locate William in the census with a birth year of 1892 in Sheffield England - Sheffield may not be correct? and England is so BIG and his name so common, it's like a needle in a hay stack! So I am hoping someone is able to pull parish records of their marriage and praying his parent's names are listed!!! I'm beginning to think he was an orphan!

Thank you!
