Hello and thank you so much, I actually found the information I wanted and managed to piece together a substantial family tree.
There are a few members that I am a bit sketchy on though; If you have any info that doesn't include the huge Palin/Smythe family tree I would be very grateful.

Hi Claire,
It has been a while since you posted on this board so I wondered how you were getting on with your tracking of our Handley ancestors? BTW it would appear that we are distant relations  :D I have Belcher, Salt, Handley, Knight, Hall & Meredith in my family tree right up to living Merediths!
I don't have any info on Matthew Salt or the children of he and Mary but am working on it - it's a HUGE family!

All the best,
Fran

I am still no closerto finding the right Palins  ::) There were a huge amount of them and such a small area too that it's almost impossible. I am hoping that the marriage cert will help a bit.
I have found out that his parents had a sweet/paper shop in Hoole? Is that right? Am relying on my Grandmother for little bits of information!

Yes I have that thank you

If you have a copy of the Evans/Palin 1922 marriage cert - who was William Herberts father on it and what was his occupation

Oh no I meant I had the definate dates and place for that marriage, sorry!  :-[

I dont actually know that Sarah Dodd is the mother, only that the maiden name was Dodd.  I don't know the first names of either of the GGG Grandparents, so it's all a shot in the dark but it does sound like them.

Sorry for being dim, been a long day with my twins ;D and I found 21 'Laws' who are definately my family.

Thankyou, you are so much quicker than me at the mo. Am trying to find all four sets of G Grandparents families!

Yes I have that thank you  :D
The other brothers and sisters I have of William Herbert were born before the marriage to Sarah Dodd in 1898 so maybe he was married before........... ahah!

LOL I am going to have to dig harder.

Thankyou so much again.  :D

These tricky ancestors.......

Oh my that was quick! Why didn't I find it on there!!! I've been looking all week........ ???

Have a couple more names to go on now, it still has no mention of Aunt Maud though.

These names are the same as the other ladies but her William Herbert isnt mine. Now I am really confused!  :o

Fran.

She sent me this
William Anthony Palin & Sarah Ellen  had three children:
1):  William Herbert, b. 3 June1898 at Wavertree Parish,W.Derby, Liverpool, Lancashire, England.
-Christened 7 Aug.1898, St. Bridget, Wavertree, Lancashire, England. Died 14 Dec. 1994 at  Seaforth, Ont. Canada.
- Data has not been researched regarding William Herbert's marital status.
- During World War 1, William Herbert served in the British Army as a Private. (iii)
-William emigrated to Canada when he was 28 years of age when he arrived on March 14th, in 1926 at the Port of St. John, New Brunswick. (ii)
- He lived to be 96 years of age, deceasing on December 14, 1994, at Seaforth, Ontario, Canada. (**)

So this is not my William Herbert!  :-\ as he died in England....

Hi Carole and thanks for the speedy reply!
I had found the transcript for this but I still dont know if this is him as the other families William Herbert was born in the same place  ::)

I don't know the names of my G G G Granparents except that the mothers maiden name was Dodd. (But then so was the other families which made me think I had a eureka moment! )
My head hurts  :D

I haven't looked at the census but I forgot to add Maud Palin too.

I did find a couple of them together with the parents listed as James Palin and mother ' Hannah' No surname. This was on the familysearch.org site?
But I can't for the life of me find a palin- dodd marriage in the whole of lancashire. Or a birth for a Hannah Dodd. I can find a James Palin marriage to a Hannah Sutcliffe but then my grandma would be wrong and she's a wise old Bird!
I feel like I am going round in  circles  :D
Thanks for your help again!

Fran
