Many thanks for your prompt reply.  Yes it all makes sense now as just couldn't see the link between the Taylors and Feltons.

Thank you.

Shropshire / Info on Taylor family from Wem/Market Drayton area
« on: Thursday 30 July 09 00:22 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I wondered if anyone had any info on the Taylor family which I'm researching in the Wem/Market Drayton area, which is as follows:

Thomas Taylor,  born abt 1848 married Emma Stockton born abt 1855

Their children's names appear to be:

Thomas, Elizabeth, Rosetta Emma, Sarah Ann, Martha Jane, Edith, John William, Clement, Harriet Ellen, Ellen, Agnes, Algernon, Gladys Augusta and Wilfred.

Gladys Augusta is my grandmother who married Joseph Thomas in Warrington, Lancashire.  Their son's names are Trevor Joseph and Gerard Llewellyn (my father).

Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Shropshire / 1891 census - why taylors called Felton?
« on: Thursday 30 July 09 00:14 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I don't know if anybody can clarify some confusing info that I've found.  I'm researching the Taylor family from Market Drayton/Belton area, Shropshire and the details are as follows:

Thomas Taylor born abt 1848, Wem Shropshire married Emma Stockton who was born abt 1855.

Their children's names I believe were called:

Thomas, Elizabeth, Rosetta Emma, Sarah Ann, Martha Jane, Edith, John William, Clement, Harriet Ellen, Ellen, Agnes, Algarnon, Gladys Augusta and Wilfred.

On the 1891 census the surnames of the children, along with their mother Emma, listed were called:

Rosetta Felton
Sarah Ann Felton
Martha Jane Felton
Edith Felton
John William Felton
Edith Felton
John William Felton
Clement Felton
Hanold Ellen Felton
Agnes Felton

Does anyone know why they were called Felton? On the ancestry website they seem to be also listed as Taylors in brackets?

Many thanks.
