Yes please Trish. Very much appreciated. Remember when you sent me a photo from a newspaper article of my great grandfather John Sullivan and a story of 10 of his family serving in WW1, what newspaper was it printed in? My email address is still the same one.

Hi Trish. Did you find out what happened to Mary Griffiths/Carroll? My grandfather James Sullivan and Mary's mother Eliza Carroll born Sullivan were brother and sister.

Seth James was married to Jane Ann James (nee Bulson) both born in Burn Castle Cary, Somerset in 1841. Their son Albert Thomas James was born in Pitcomb, Somerset in 1872. I had this information from the 1881 census.  They were living in 26 Martins Row, Fochriw which is the village I still live at. Twenty years later in the 1901 census Seth owned a shop at 4 Railway Terrace in Fochriw with Jane Ann and there was a 12 year old girl living there as a servant and I think it says "cook domestic".  Her name was............. Sarah Bulson.

Hi Sue.  If your Seth James was born on 14th September 1841 at Castle Cary in Somerset it will definitely be the same one has mine. His father was William James and his mother Jane James formerly Laver.  I'm not on Ancestry so can't keep in touch with you that way. My e-mail is fochriw88@msn.com.  I'm also on Face Book.

Hi Trish.  I would be very grateful of a copy.  Haven't done anything for sometime and hopefully this can kick me back into the research.  At least with this hobby you always have previous research to fall back on.  Thank you, Patrick.

Hi all, just realised I'd started this post 6 years ago, I think I should join in again lol.  My Sullivan family settled in Pontlottyn, Gelligaer parish, Glamorgan in the 1870s, other family surnames from that time were McCarthys, Mahonys, Miskill.  There were so many Irish in Pontlottyn and numerous Sullivan families nearly all sharing the same Christian names, eg, Patrick, Michael, John, Jeremiah.  I got all the records I need for this side of the water, it's the Irish records that do me in.  Haven't researched family history for some years I think its about time I got back into it.
