Europe Resources & Offers / Re: PELCZAR lookup please? POLAND - Koszalin and Krakow
« on: Saturday 04 February 23 09:38 GMT (UK)  »
Hi Andy I sent you a rootschat private message Fri 3rd Feb, but I think as a
new member, you might need to make two more posts beore you can receive it:
"New members must make at least three postings before being allowed to use the PM facility.

And I am not sure if my private message to you has been sent:
"If you are sending PMs to new members who have less than three posts you will receive an error message".

Europe Resources & Offers / PELCZAR lookup please? POLAND - Koszalin and Krakow
« on: Sunday 06 October 19 12:11 BST (UK)  »
I have photos and family history on my private tree
on Ancestry but nobody else reseaching this family on there :-(
On My Heritage I can see two people have Julian (below)
but I only have a basic sub so, cannot see tree or contact owner.

JULIAN Fryderyk PELCZAR well known Koszalin journalist
born 1933 Krakow, died 2009 Koszalin, Pomerania
Son of Leocadia. Julian married Malgosia. Julian was my 2nd cousin.
Julian's first cousin was my aunt Elza (now deceased) who lived in France.
Elza last visited Julian and family in 1976.

Military Doctor FELIX PELCZAR
born 1913, died 1983 Krakow, buried Rakowiecki Cemetery.
Son of Andrzej Pelczar and his wife Antoinette Ryzner (aka Antonina Ryzner)
Felix was my 1st cousin 1 x removed. I have his obituary (attached) but do not know
names of wife and children. Find a Grave photo requested but maybe nobody looking...

Thanks so much Bookbox :-)
The doc I asked my question about, had no heading or link to the main page
"Record of Certificates granted for the relief of the wives and families of militiamen"
which you've kindly provided, and I've read and now understand.
Very grateful indeed for your help.

Thanks but  'minister for war' does not feel right somehow....
unless I can find a better reference to this term being used specifically for men in the Forfar Militia.
I contacted the Abderdeen Archives, also Angus archives, nobody has replied.
Hoping an expert in Forfar Militia study might read this and reply.

Angus (Forfarshire) / Re: Forfarshire Militia 1790/1800s - Sinclair and Millar
« on: Wednesday 06 September 17 02:42 BST (UK)  »
PS did a quick search on ScotlandsPeople could this be your Isabel?

Isabel Millar b 26 Feb 1775 Brechin, Angus parents David Milllar and Elizabeth Wood

possible death (date matches birth) MILLAR, ISABEL 89 1862 322/ 9 Tealing, Angus
Tealing is about 21 miles south west of Brechin.

1841 census - someone on Ancestry has provided the original census image
in their tree - shows Isabella age abt 55 (erroneously under ditto McDonald)
living with her married daughter Margaret and husband Donald McDonald,
and end column tick confirms Isabella born in Angus.
If you sub to ancestry, it's easy to see this shared census once you enter
Isabel Millar b 1775 Brechin into your tree - and look at the hints,
and there are several trees with various records.

1851 census shows Isabella age 69 born Brechin, living in Brechin
with daughter Ann Gibson Sinclair (b1823) and widowed
Donald McDonald (his wife Margaret Sinclair is deceased)
plus his two children. Also 2 other names, maybe relations.

Cannot find Isabel in the 1861 census.
Suggest the death record may be correct, and purchasing
from ScotlandsPeople for 6 credits to view, might be informative.
