Yes he was - his father was actually 4 years younger than his bride!  However, they did make it to the church on time, as their first child was born just 5 weeks later.

Thanks again

Thank you both, that is wonderful.  This helps in filling in a lot of blanks, although I am still surprised that a 40 year old woman would still need her parents consent to marry.  The wedding finally took place on 6 June!

Please could someone translate this letter/document regarding the marriage in 1816 between Adolph Krajenbrink and Maria Catharina Schnitzler.

Thank you

Thank you so much for this, very interesting and a fair amount of info that I did not have, including when Carl died (approx).

There is another letter which is for Maria Catherina's maternal grandparents, but that is in German, so I will do a new thread for that.  They were certainly determined to get someone to consent !

Can anyone give me a rough translation of the following letter please.

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:939K-89S6-XZ?fbclid=IwAR156oSX48-wepjeo_BkbAyAcJ3uP0lFxtahahsrxFMV-5sdwOzqqw2FOnk&i=398&wc=Q84W-TKZ%3A299948901%2C301816301&cc=1949343

It is an attachment for the marriage of Maria Catharina Schnitzler to Adolf Krajenbrink in Arnhem in 1816.  I think it was to obtain consent for her marrying (even though she was 40 years old) and refers to her paternal Grandfather  Carl Schnitzler.  Then there seems to be some mention of a ship on the River Rhine (?).

There are 4 pages of the letter, so I don't need a full translation.  Many thanks

Thank you for your reply, which I have only just seen.  This is the line of a member of my family, and I have managed to fond out more since my original post.  Thanks to the people who originally responded, who I forgot to reply to.  I have had a quick look at the WikiTree - I had managed to find 20 of Eliza Palmer's children, but have missed out 2 so will be having a closer look later.  My family member is descended from another son of Cadwallader and Eliza Donovan Edwards, Rickard, who had a very long career in the army and died in 1833 in Jamaica.

The Edwards are a very fascinating family with links to a number of famous people.
