Yes, Sandra - that is the lady I have been searching for, for so long.

Her father John Perkins b.1788 Atherington, Devon; died in the January 1851, and her two sister Sarah and Rachael married two brothers (James and Simeon Stevens) at Taunton in 1856. Her mother Betty King dies in 1870 at Butleigh, Somerset. Jane's younger brother Henry (b. 1828 at Taunton) is my 2x Greatgrandfather). I have the whole family pretty well covered in my tree but Jane just seems to disappear and I just haven't been able to find her.

Should you discover anything, I would be very pleased to hear from you.

Kind regards

Colin Perkins

Thank you so much to ShaunJ and Sandra for both your answers, which arrived so quickly!

Sadly, the lady you have identified for me is not the Jane Perkins I search for - she was born in Taunton, Somerset. England and was unmarried on the 1851 Census.

Many thanks again

Hi

I am trying to find information about the Jane Perkins, born 1826 and who arrived as passenger on the 'Mary Lowell' at Boston in 1854. I do have a direct ancestor of that name and age, who disappeared from British Census records after 1851, and whose whereabouts I have been trying to trace for many years

Many thanks

Good Evening Mike

Thank you for your swift reply, which is very much appreciated.

I have used the site you suggest many times, and found it very helpful and interesting. However it does not contain transcriptions for the period I am now researching, from 1770 to 1812.

As you say, they will probably be held at the National Archives in Wales, and I will try to search there on my next visit to the UK.

My thanks again

Kind Regards

Colin

Cardiganshire Lookup Requests / Llancynfelin Church Records
« on: Tuesday 26 April 16 18:17 BST (UK)  »
Good Afternoon

I wonder if anyone can look-up the Llancynfelin church records between 1770 and 1812, for the marriage of Thomas Edwards (b.1754 in Wales, d.15/6/1841 in Llancynfelin), and his wife Ann (b.1761 in Wales, d. 9/6/1831 in Llancynfelin); and any children they might have had during their marriage.

Many Thanks

Dorset / Re: Marriage of Richard HANHAM to Elizabeth PITTMAN

Hello

Thank you so much for your swift reply, which was very interesting.

Richard Hanham was my 4xgreatgrandfather, and I also have him buried at Stowell 2.11.1790 - leaving a large and very young family.

I am not familiar with Coinington, Dorset - and the only reference to a Richard Hanham I could find was at Poyntington, Somerset -very close to the Dorset county border.

I had also assumed that Elizabeth Pit(t)man was the one born at Shillingstone 16.9.1744. I just hope I have the right Richard marrying this Elizabeth.

Please be assured of my thanks, and should you find more information I would be extremely pleased to hear from you again

Kind Regards

Hi

Would anyone have further information on Richard HANHAM and/or Elizabeth PITTMAN, who were married at Sturminster Newton on 26 September 1770.

Any leads as to their parents names, their ages and their villages of birth would be extremely helpful.

Many thanks

Hi Marlene

Many thanks for your enquiry which I received a few hours ago. I have been checking my old files and can confirm the following from my research.

Hannah Woodford was born in Taunton, Somerset on 6 Jan 1820 and christened at Paul Street Independant Church, Taunton on 26 July 1820. Parents were Alexander Woodford (b.Wellington, Som 1780; d.1858 NSW Aus.) and Hannah Phippen (b. Taunton 1783; d. 1860 NSW). She was one of six children.

Her brother Francis Woodford (b. 20 Feb 1810 Taunton; m 22 Aug 1830 Taunton; d.12 Oct 1890 NSW, Aus) married my GGGgrandfather's eldest child Elizabeth Perkins (b. 16 Feb 1813 Taunton; d. 12 Jun 1894 NSW)

They sailed from Plymouth, Devon on 28 Aug 1838 and arrived NSW, Aus on 11 Dec 1838 on the 8th voyage of the 'James Pattison'. The ship was built in London in 1828, and sank in the Atlantic in 1840.

Francis and Elizabeth took their four UK born children with them, and were also accompanied by brother William Woodford (1814-1888) and sister Hannah (1820- ?). After arrival in NSW they had six more children.

Alexander and Hannah did not sail with the party in 1838, but sailed out later.

I hope this helps you - please feel free to contact me again.

Kind Regards

Colin Perkins
