Nottinghamshire Lookup Requests / Re: Wilford Hill Burial record
« on: Thursday 30 August 12 18:34 BST (UK)  »
Hi Sandymc

You seem to have been busy with this, thank you so much for your interest in helping solve this.  I notice the information you have found on Margaret is proberbly from my family tree on Ancestry.co.uk as i have a picture of Margarets death cert on there.
I am from Thornaby and still living here.  Not sure but you may have a little confusion on whos who so I will try to may more sense of it.
Thomas Butler snr (my granddad) may have come from this area, as you have found possibly Middlesbrough or hartlepool this is part of the mistery I dont know who he is.  Margaret Rogers (my grandmother) was born in Thornaby and met Thomas somewhere in this area.  They both moved down to Nottingham in 1938 living at 10 Ethel Grove, Meadows (How would you get a house in 1938 when most people seemed to live on top of each other?) Margaret gave birth to my dad (Thomas Butler jnr) in 1940, but when Margaret died in 1943 my dad returned to Thornaby to live with Margarets Parents and his Dad Thomas snr  went back to Nottingham to live and disappeared in 1947.  I have found a Marriage in 1948 for Thomas Butler and Emily Hall in Basford, this seems to be the only lead I may have but still dont know if it is him. I really dont know where else to look.

Kind regards
Ian Butler

Hi Sandymc

Thank you so much for your interest, i seem to have exhausted my options looking for him.  You see my father (Thomas Butler) was born in Nottingham Nov 1940 and his birth cert shows his father also called Thomas Butler who was a machine moulder.  His Mother (my gran) was Margaret Rogers who lived in Teesside but moved to Nottingham in 1938 with Thomas to 10 Ethel Grove, Meadows, Nottingham.  She died in 1943 age 23 from birth complications, burried in the Wilford Hill and my dad was moved back up to Teesside to live with her parents.  Thomas disappeard, he may have stayed in Nottingham but unfortunately because there is no marriage I can not find his age and do not even know if he was born in Nottingham or Teesside, i can only presume he was of a similar age to Margaret.  I have been to the archives in Nottingham a couple of time and found the electoral registers confirming he lived at the same address until 1947. What happened next is the next part of the puzzel. where did he move to, Where did he work?, did he marry? I feel so close to finding something and trying every possible lead.

regards
Ian

Hi Sandymc

My grandfather was Thomas Butler and my Gran Margaret Rogers, They lived together as Butler in the meadows but were never married. It is Thomas Butler I am really trying to find as i have records of Margarets death and location, however I am kind of hoping there are records of the burial arrangements giving some details of Thomas or anything to do with the ceromony.

Regards Ian

I am looking for any reletives in particular daughters of Clara Connor (nee Rogers)
The Daughters names are Cathrine, Carol, Susan and Margaret, one of which living in Thornaby for certain.
Clara would have been sister to Margaret, Richard and Stanley.  If this is you or you know who these people are, I would love to talk family history. Please get in touch.

Thats excellent information, i would love more info on the lines. :D
But have to ask where do you fit in to the family?

My father (thomas Butler 1940 - 1995) was the son of Margaret Rogers and Thomas Butler who was born in nottingham and for some reason as a small child was shipped up to thornaby to live with RW Rogers, Emma Thomas and others at 43 James Street .  I am trying to find what happened in nottingham for him to be abandoned.  hope you can help

Alfred - 1876 - 1950
Samuel - 1880 - 1954
Richard - 1882 - 1951 - m - Emma Thomas
Daniel - 1885 - ?
Selina - 1887 - ?
Annie - 1890 - ? - m - Inman 1916 ?

The main one i am missing is Margaret Rogers who married Thomas Butler and lived in Nottingham
There is also a Clara Rogers who married john connor and possible children Cathrine, Carol, Susan, Margaret
