Tipperary / Re: Jeremiah Carey
« on: Saturday 24 November 12 11:23 GMT (UK)  »
Thank you for the information Twinkleberry, (love that name:)), most of the above info. I have and I also have all the children of Jeremiah and Mary, they weren't listed in the births register, but we tracked them down via the Catholic Archives baptism records.  I think a brother settled in the Booleroo Centre area and I must try and ring some Carey's from there, to find out the Christian names.  I have all the SAGHS discs that have been released, anxiously awaiting the most recent Death Index:)  Was hoping someone from Ireland may be able to give me some info. regarding Carey's around Tipperary.  Thanks once again for taking the time to look this up and post:)

Hi I have a photo and some info you might like relating to the death of Thomas John Carey 1901 and Jeremiah jnr 1924. Do you have these as two of the sons of Jeremiah.

Hi
Thankyou I have quite a lot on Williams first marriage and family and their families. It is his second marriage that I don't know much about. I found out about the child Rose/a via this site and thought I check it out as some people have incorrect information on these trees I don't like to just copy this info over.

Any idea what happened to Eliza Webber nee Clark.  Is Rosa and her mother in the 1891 census?

I agree the Jenkins marriage most likely.

Free BDM has Rose Isabel Webber born Sep quarter 1856 Portsea. 2B 352 and I assume this is her.

Many thanks

Yes that is the one. William's first wife died 1854 she is my ggggrmother and is buried there. The second wife Eliza, her father was Richard Clark of blackfriars rd according to the newspaper notice. It appears Eliza did not return to Australia with William as he died here 1870. Eliza was in England to finalize his affairs at the end of 1870. Did not know there was a child to that marriage or was Rose/a someone else's child as I am trying to establish when exactly William returned to Australia as I think it was around 1856 to sign a land deal unless he travelled back and forth a few times.

Broad St is one of the addresses they had

Hi Many thanks to all
It does appear that Eliza's husband is not in the household. It does confirm, I think that i have the correct family as I know Eliza's father was Richard Clark of Blackfriars Rd.  Address correct?. Is there any way I could find Rosa's birth parents.  I suspect she is Rosa Isabelle Webber born 1856 but I would like to find out who her father is as I think he was in Australia in the 1860's and died 1870. It is interesting about the George Clark/Webber not sure I can explain that one.

Derry (Londonderry) / Re: Boyle family Londonderry area
« on: Tuesday 28 August 12 05:16 BST (UK)  »
I have no additional info on my Boyle girls although there might have been an Inn or Hotel in the family. When her husband died she ran an Inn/Hotel on her own so she may have had some previous experience there.  I think there was a John Boyle who ran a Pub in Londonderry. I have requested more info before elsewhere but never got a reply.

Another side is that the girls said they were farm servants not domestic servants so may have come from surrounding areas.  Catherine named her children Isabella (after her sister) another daughter Maria and sons John, James and Thomas. They may be family names.

Hi

Australian residents can access the 19th Century British Newspapers for free through the National Library of Australia eResources

http://www.nla.gov.au/app/eresources/

Some State libraries also have access.

Andy

I regularly use the Trove site which is fantastic. tried the other links and found Scottish, Welsh Irish newspapers but not English.  Will keep looking though

Thanks.
