The Common Room / Re: Geneanet trees now coming up as suggestions on Ancestry
« on: Wednesday 27 March 24 12:32 GMT (UK)  »
I have seen Geneanet trees appearing as hints on Ancestry, but unfortunately they are of dubious accuracy.  Only yesterday I found an aunt’s death recorded as 1980, when I actually attended her funeral in 1999.  The big problem here is that about 15 Ancestry trees have happily copied the incorrect information - no proof recorded in any of them.  It is frustrating to see this, and I have no idea how this can be corrected.

Further to my previous post, obviously Jessie Stuart HORN (who married Robert KIRKPATRICK) made contact with her relatives in Victoria, as William Hislop HORN named a daughter Jessie Kirkpatrick HORN.  I have still unable to find a death for Alexander Inglis HORN.

This ad appeared in the papers for about a month:
Argus, Melbourne, 4 Apr 1859,
The Age, Melbourne, 4 Apr, 1859:

Missing Friends.
EDINBURGH.— Alexander Horn and family, from Edinburgh, who arrived in Sydney in 1851,— your brother David's daughter, Jessie, is in Sydney, and anxious to hear from you. Address, Mr. Dickson, London Chartered Bank, Sydney. Any information respecting them will be gratefully received.   1 8108

I don't know if they contacted Jessie, who remained in NSW and married Robert Kirkpatrick in 1863.
I haven't found deaths for either Alexander or his wife, but when daughter Bennet married in 1865 Alexander was no longer alive. Bennet died in 1906 and her brother William in 1908.

Sorry about my last message, of course I was referring to Thomas Fenton Lambert, not Fenton Thomas.  Oops,
Val

Hi,

Fenton Thomas Lambert married (1) Mary Lambert, had daughter Mary.  Married (2) Mary Halliwell. He always seemed to have one or more Marys with him! in 1851 He had his first wife Mary, her mother and their daughter (3 Marys) living with him.  In 1871 his 2nd wife Mary and his daughter were with him. In his later years Thomas was Municipal Registrar of Birth and Deaths in Stainland, Yorks.

I haven't found anything about Thomas Lambert, other than that he was a tanner, married Mary Garlick in 1800.  He seems to have died before 1841, as his Mary was living with her daughter and son-in-law then.

Have you checked out Malcolm Bulls site?  http://freepages.history.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~calderdalecompanion/l.html  - well worth a look, quite a bit of Lambert info there, some of which I have provided, along with many other contributors.

Cheers,
Val

My latest information is that Thomas Alexander "Tom" Kirkpatrick died "by accident on railway."  I'm still looking for details on this.

Thanks Lisa,  I have a date of death as Sep 29, 1899.  Have also seen a photo of him - the frame says "Gamer, 702 N & 222 S 16th St, Omaha, Neb."

I'm looking for any information on Thomas Alexander Kirkpatrick, born 1871 in Australia, who apparently travelled to USA with a Circus.  He died in Omaha, Nebraska in 1899.  Can any one help me with this?
